"Great!"

First off, there are no longer any first come sites, all sites are reservable. You can stay in an empty site for 1 night only. If you want to stay longer you need to go online and make a reservation. Large, private sites. Salmon were... Read more

"Great DNR campground"

Nice, quiet campground, albeit a bit dusty. They are building about 10 new sites just south of the campground which are all gravelled and will avoid the dust problems of the existing area. I loved this place and most of all it is free!

"Beautiful spot with great hiking!"

This is a gem! Room for lots of campers. We were in a huge spot on a knoll overlooking the boat ramp on Burke Lake. Hiking is wonderful, lots of wildlife. The only downside and it is minor because they weren't that close to us, but of the 6... Read more

"Muddy, but good base for touring and hiking"

"Great place to visit, lots of history"

Wide open campground, with not trees. Our campsite, #28 gets the first shade. Thanks to the Senior WA Winter Camping Pass, a site with electricity is only $10 per night. The campsite is only a 10 minute walk to the ferry terminal for visiting... Read more

"Nice base for visiting Tacoma"

I stayed here in early November 2019. Lots of reviews regarding "homeless" problems. I didn't experience any of that. I did see one car where a guy appeared to be staying in his car, but no issues. Unless you count the hysterical, screaming... Read more

"Ok, but lack of low growing shrubs makes it feel wide open, lacking privacy"

Site was decent sized, easy to get into. Facilities were very clean and the area along the beach looks brand new. Very nice. No real hiking trails from the campground. Even though off-season, lots of campers, especially in the full hookup... Read more
