Arrived Friday late, worried it would be full. Not. Made a circuit, saw three rigs. As of 5:30 this afternoon one (1) car has passed my camp. Level, shaded, quiet. Five star. I’m a full-timer, this place is great; Silver City, a hip little town, is twenty miles away. Going in tomorrow.

Easy off road access and lots of wide open areas to find your own spot. Some areas have shade from trees. The Continental trail goes thru here and meet some hiking up to Canada. It was quiet even though we weren’t far off the road.

Easy drive off main road, but campground road is in bad shape. Large wash outs make for a bumpy ride. There is a big open space at the front of the campground, we parked there.

Road noise wasn't too bad but was noticable when quite. hikers would usually arrive just as or b4 sunrise.

We wanted to stay here and thought the place looked cool. It was nice to see trees! Unfortunately, while we could get AT&T internet, we could not make a phone call or send out a text, so we were unable to stay since we still have to be able to work. If you don't care about not being able to call, this would be a nice place to setup camp right on the continental divide though. Wish we could have made it work!

We have 35 foot motorhome and site was sandy but hard. There were sites are scattered all over, some in shaded area or just park anywheres in the open field. Look like a great place for deer. Looks like there were horse dong scattered about, but is known for horse trails.

Located in the Gila NF. I suppose it cannot be considered a campground but it does have large and well-spaced nitches carved out by the FS for tents or RVs. The CDT runs right thru it as there are markers. It's about 25 miles NE of Lordsburg. It's 01-01-20 and this will be my second night. Only a couple of hunters around. The elevation means cold nights and there are large patches of snow. There are also coyote and deer tracks, as well as fresh (as in today) black bear tracks a few yards away! I guess the bears aren't hibernating yet due to low snow and too warm temps.

Do not recommend taking large rigs or tall RVs that far back even though it looks like there is a lot of open land. Tree branches will leave deep scratches in the side of you RV even driving carefully. There is an area to your left, right after you pass the cattle grate bridge that could accommodate a large RV. There was only one other camper the night we stayed. Site was very unlevel. The one close to the road appeared more level. Be cautious if there was substantial rainfall, road had areas of washout.

If you like off-roadIng there are an abundance of trails and we took our Polaris for a 30 mile drive through the mountains it was fantastic
The continental divide trail passes through this campground and I think there are people leaving water out for illegal immigrants heading north
There are a few cattle around and a few hikers and this is just a fantastic place to stop whether you are in a tent or in a big rig
