This was our "base camp" that offered super easy access to Bryce, Zion, the Vermillion Cliffs, Lake Powell and Horseshoe Bend...while offering blazing WIFI, full hook ups and Disney-like views of jaw dropping scenery! Yes, it got down to 14F, but would/will do it again in a heartbeat! We were initially a little concerned about how close it was to the road, but it was ABSOLUTELY quiet.
The space between the sites was amazing! It was like boon docking solitude - will full hook ups! And they had a great space for intermingling with other campers.
Everything you've read about the bathrooms is true! We didn't bother to use the shower in our RV - there's was way too nice to not indulge!

Lavish heated shower suites (even heated floors) that you don't have to feed quarters into. Our hosts, Jeff, Britt and Rick couldn't have been more gracious. Plenty of space between campers. Common areas with coffee and snacks available on an honor system. WIFI is strong and TV channels available with average camper TV. New laundry facilities. Concierge propane service. Quiet location yet freeway close.
Literally, best RV experience of 2020.
Highly recommended.

Rick and Meryl were awesome hosts. They had a Holiday Farmer’s Market on site one day with some great local vendors. We also got great instructions on applying for the Wave Lottery and some great local hikes.
We could spend months in the Kanab area and not do everything there is to do and when we do, Dark Sky would be the only place near Kanab that we’d stay. We looked at every other CG in the area, and it is just not even a remotely close contest. Dark Sky is by far the nicest we saw.

Concierge services without the snob effect ;) Super easy to do everything Venmo or card on file, we received a welcome text the morning of our reservation, lots of checks in during our stay (without feeling intrusive).
Oh and if you work on the road, excellent WiFi. We had two on zoom and one on GoTo meeting at the same time with zero glitches.
Book now.

We stayed here at the end of October 2020, when the campground was only about 11 weeks old. The campground has most of the usual amenities, but implemented in a unique way.
Most of the RV sites are crescent-shaped pull-throughs on either side of the main road through the campground, so everyone has plenty of space. There is a separate smaller loop off the main one with small back-in sites for tents and Class B campers. The sites and the road are gravel and fairly level.
Instead of a picnic table, each RV site has a small round patio table and two short upright logs with flat cut tops to serve as seats. There are also no typical fire rings, but you can rent a propane-powered fire cauldron (with its own propane tank) from the office. If you need a refill of your own propane tank, each site comes with a tag that you attach to your tank and then leave it next to the propane refill station, and they will deliver the tank back to your site.
The office doesn’t have a store, but it does have a coffee bar and a covered patio area for outdoor gatherings. During our stay they hosted events on the patio like a hot chocolate bar and a small local farmer’s market. There’s no playground, but a short trail from the office take you to the Dig Pit, where campers can dig for hidden stars that can be traded in for prizes. We had plenty of places to walk the dogs, either along the loop or in the bush-filled fenced-in dog run.
There’s one bathhouse with two nicely decorated bathrooms with showers. There’s a large outdoor sink for washing dishes or dogs, and the back of the building has an open-air laundry area. While the decor of the campground is “recycled rustic”, they make good use of technology: paying for laundry could be done via Venmo or PayPal, and we received alerts about cold weather and campground events via both email and text message. There are WiFi booster towers along the loop to ensure a strong signal throughout the campground: I didn’t use the campground WiFi but I did measure it with a speedtest and got 39Mbps down and 3Mpbs up, with a ping of 13. Cell service was great: I saw download speeds around 50Mbps down and 25Mbps up with my Verizon Jetpack hotspot and MIMO antenna, enough to stream TV with rare stutters. Meanwhile, my AT&T cellphone was getting 55Mbps down and 18Mbps up.
Finally, they take their “Dark Sky” name seriously. There are no light poles in the campground, so it is very dark at night, allowing you to see thousands of stars when the moon isn’t out. The only potential negative to this campground is that there is no shade, which means no respite from the sun during the summer, but that’s not so different from a lot of campgrounds in Utah.

Found this to be a very appealing campground on numerous fronts. This family owned start-up has been very well laid out. Resisting the temptation to cram as many sites as the can, on their property, the owners instead chose to sacrifice number of sites ($$) for much more space giving the campground a state park feel and camping guests open space luxury. Each site has splendid views of red cliff and desert expanse with terrific sunrise/sunset views. The campground adheres to a “dark sky” policy – discouraging those gaudy outdoor awning lights – which provides amazing stargazing. Most site are pull-through gravel reasonably level. Hookups are centrally located on the “street side” so campers are not facing the road. While there are only two bathrooms available (a shortcoming, probably could use two more) the bathrooms are the most beautifully thought out “suites”. Clearly, the Bathrooms are truly the best we have come across in our almost 3 years of full-time RVing. Luxury quality and cleanliness – each bath even has a glass door leading to a private bath patio for that outdoor shower experience. Since this is a new campground, GPS may not show the location correctly, in addition there is presently no signage on HWY 89 to know where exactly to turn. Text or phone the owners for more accurate navigation. Propane sold on site at a very competitive price – probably best for this area. Owners will come out and great you on arrival and offer any assistance you might need as well as good advice for sightseeing the area. Very solid fast WiFi (free) and we got about 14 stations OTA, good Verizon cell. We like to stay a new RV parks to show some support for the start-up business. These folks have done a great job so far, provide outstanding friendly service and I expect they will continue to improve over time.

The sites are spread out and have beautiful desert views The sites have cocktail tables and you can rent propane fire rings (no regular fire rings). From the check in process (online) to paying for laundry (Venmo or cash option) everything utilized current technology, which was a nice change. We had 4 bars of LTE and the WiFi was the best we have ever had at an RV park. It was easy for us to do work and school from our site. The common area is beautifully decorated and we wish we would have been here when it was a little warmer So we could enjoy it. The bathrooms were really a highlight. Heated floors and so nicely done. We decided we wanted to shower there instead of the RV. Love this place! We definitely hope to return.
