Location was beautiful! Mountains and amazing cacti. Wonder sunsets. Great hiking trails right from the campground. This time of year it was on a first come first served reservation basis. Plenty of open sites mid week. Campground is very well maintained. Very peaceful.

I was here the end of November and there are very few campers here, due to Covid half the sites are shut down. Weather perfect . I don’t think I’d be here April through October as it would be way to hot. Nearest gas station is 20 miles away. I would definitely camp here again. January thru March reservations are required, I don’t think I’d like being here with 200 sets of snowbirds.

Hands down the most beautiful campground I have been to since I can remember! I would live there if I could. Incredibly clean, very well paved sites, each with picnic table and grill. Spotless restrooms, great dump spot with drinking water and even doggie bags to pick up after your pooch! The Saguaros and Organ Pipes are amazing as are the birds and sunsets. After reading another camper's review about his dog stepping on cactus spines I purchased some doggie shoes before going so our little guy could walk with us. Boy was I glad I did! He constantly had spines in his feet even when only walking on the pavement. I strongly suggest dog shoes if you plan to hike (even though there are only a few trails where they allow dogs). We stayed over our long Thanksgiving weekend since we were worried we wouldn't have a T-Mobile signal, but we did have a great signal so we will be going back to spend a week or so while working! This is a must-see place for SURE!!

So we walk back and forth to the visitors center every day on the paved road,
every evening the park rangers give a lecture on a different subject, so one evening it was about the area and it's development, the other was about the wildlife of the area. I brought the dog along and really enjoyed those presentation, there is a screen and they project a power point type presentation. I appreciated these a lot.
One last thing the water heater are solar powered so the best time for a shower is mid day, when you will have plenty of hot water. there is a dump station along with a potable water supply station.
My phone service is with Google FI and it work fine

Beware the misleading cell service indicators (bars don’t equal usable speed!) with a Verizon jet pack and a mimo antennae I was able to pull 5 bars of signal but it was very slow due to congestion of the tower. Work got done but I wouldn’t rely on that if you absolutely have to be online. My AT&T phone showed a signal (likely from Mexico) but never would connect to it. No cell service on the way into it of the park.

We stayed in this campground in February 2020 and the RV sites are all well maintained concrete pads with picnic tables and charcoal grills. My truck and trailer measure 36' in length so I stayed at a 40' max site but I definitely could have stayed at a 35' max site with room to spare. No campfires allowed but you can bring and use a fire pit if it's at least 12" off the ground. The generator hours in the non-summer seasons are 8am - 10am and 4pm - 6pm which makes it a little challenging to manage cooking meals if you use a microwave or anything needing heavy electrical usage. There are generator sites and non-generator sites as well as tent only sites which made this the quietest campground that I have ever been to. It appeared that 90% of the RV sites were taken and I think that I was the only camp sites with kids (10 and 7); the rest of the population appeared to be mature adults from Canada and northern states. Bathrooms were clean and accessible.
The best part of the campsite was its easy accessibility to the rest of the National Monument. The Visitor Center is 1.5 miles away and the North Puerto Blanco Scenic Loop starts close by too. The Ajo Mountain loop is just across the 85 and is also easily accessible. 5 miles to the south is the border and the South Puerto Blanco Scenic Loop and trail access including Quitobaquito.
We would definitely come back the next time we are here especially since summer season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) there are no generator hour restrictions aside from quiet hours starting at 10pm. This site appears to be very popular in February so I would be sure to book as soon as you know your dates through recreation.gov. We were a walk in and stayed 2 nights in the same spot before having to move to an adjacent site because of an existing reservation.
I have Mint Mobile which uses T-Mobile 4G towers and I had ZERO service throughout the entire monument. I didn't get cell service until driving back north to Why which went to 4 bars LTE. The Visitor Center has free wifi if you need internet access. I had no cell service down in Lukeville either. The Visitor Center has no food or snacks so you have to go 5 miles south to Lukeville if you need any amenities like gas or snacks.
We were here during blasting for the new border wall and were not affected by any of the construction. You can drive right up to the new and old border walls and get a feel of just how different the area is going to be once it's complete. To me and my family, the views are a bit ruined with the demolition and removal of land and ancient cactus being replaced with concrete and steel. I don't know how wildlife will be able to migrate freely as they were before. Be aware, there are signs warning of illegal and dangerous smuggling operations throughout the desert on trails and near problem areas. We did encounter a group of border crossers that eventually got detained by CBP so you should always be wary of your surroundings. The campsite itself is 5 miles away from the border but there are still signs warning of illegal activity as you enter the site.

The Twin Peaks Campground is located within the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and is close to the border with Mexico. This is one of the most scenic campgrounds we’ve stayed at and would definitely return for a longer stay.
PROs:
- The campground has flush toilets, drinking water fill stations throughout the campground, solar heated showers, trash receptacles and a dump station;
- pull through sites on cement and fairly level. Lots of local vegetation between the sites;
- Verizon cellular service was fairly decent in the mornings;
- The Desert View Trail will give you a great overview with its vistas and story boards along the way for plant identification. There are many other trails available for hiking which we did;
- Generators are permitted with hour restrictions since there are no hookups at the sites;
- We used our National Parks Access Pass or equivalent, this campground is currently affordable at $10 per night;
- Dark skys at night and we also did one of two driving tours within the monument.
CONs:
- This is remote so come stocked;
- No 'over the air' TV available.

We loved that we could hike right out of the campground and took the 40 mile drive through the Organ Pipe National Monument and toured the little town of Ajo. The facilities were immaculate, as we've come to expect in Arizona campgrounds. Cell coverage, with our cell booster, allowed hubby to work for a few hours without issue. Will definitely stay again!
