We pulled in without reservations on a Monday afternoon in mid-March. The campground was full and in high demand. We were fortunate to arrive earlier in the day, as we were able to secure one of their "overflow" sites; six sites, arranged in a circle, no hookups, somewhat detached from the park itself. We were able to find a suitable site, although most are sized for tents, vans, or small RVs. The host told us that we would have to move up to the main campground if an opening came available, as this was overflow and not intended to be a full-time campsite. We were able to stay in our site throughout our stay, as there were many others contending for the few openings that came available. We were content to stay where we were.
Overflow sites have access to all of the services of the campground; fresh water, dump station, bathhouse (with showers), dumpsters, etc, although most are a short drive up the hill and into the main campground.
Overall, this was a pleasant place for us, we'd come back again, even if just for the overflow sites!

Beautiful Site! Was lots of room. Had a concrete picnic table. Had a nice firepit with a grate for cooking. One leveling block was used. We have a 25-foot travel trailer and fit nicely in our site with plenty of room to spare. We didn't have any hookups, but fresh water was near our site and plenty of sun for solar. They do have a dump and trash bins. The location was absolutely gorgeous at the bottom of a mountain range. Close to White Sands National Park. The host here was amazing. He had sleds and wax for you to borrow when you go to White Sands National Park. (Which we fully made use of) We had friends with us whom stayed at the campsite next to us, which was wayyy down the road. We had another camper who was closer to us, but not that close. He also had firewood to purchase if you needed or wanted it. The restrooms were very clean and so were the showers! The whole park was nice and clean, and the host made his rounds several times daily. One of the best hosts EVER! (I think his name was Bob).
The park had several hiking trails. We didn't have time to do them all, but we did do one, the shortest near the visitors center and it was wonderful!
Would DEFINITELY recommend this campground if in the area and I would DEFINITELY stay here again!

They have several first come first serve sites. We got here about 10 in the morning and was lucky to get one with the added benefit of being private, and having wonderful views. Quiet! Well-spaced sites. Great staff. We would love to come back and spend more time here.

Perfect state park near White Sands with partial hookups and dump station onsite. The campground is at the base of the mountain range, and you can see for miles. Stayed here for the week and the views are unforgettable. The dog canyon trail was strenuous yet amazing. The sunsets are beautiful to watch.

We used this spot (site 28) as our home base for exploring White Sands. This campground was awesome. Great staff and hosts. Fairly quiet except for a couple loud RVs. A little busy throughout the day with traffic. The hiking was fun and the facilities were well maintained. We were sad to leave this little gem.

Stayed first week of July 2022. Very quiet, not too many people. The people who were there were quiet and friendly. Clean bathrooms. Lots of flies during the day. Great views everywhere. Wild most definitely stay here again. Try to get a shaded site to help with the sun exposure during the day

We loved our stay at this park, using it as a base for exploring White Sands NP, the awesome little town in Cloud Croft, and hiking in the national forest.
Site 31 is a first come first served site and is perfectly located at the top of the campground for amazing views of the valley. Lots of sun for solar since it is a dry camping spot, but there is a water spigot nearby if needed.
This site is parallel to the road, so it offers lots of privacy out your front door. We fit our 28 foot airstream and parked our truck in the spot with plenty of room to walk around.
Al the camp host was amazing and had many great recommendations to share.
The only knock would be the cleanliness of the bathrooms. They were cleaned once in the week we were there.

Sites are reasonably well spaced and it was pretty quiet at night. Great bathroom with running water and 2 showers per gender! The Dog Canyon trail leaves from the visitor center and is a wonderful strenuous canyon hike - bring lots of water and prepare to climb. T-mobile service was 2 bars and reasonably good. Three rivers petroglyph BLM site is about an hour north and well worth a visit - 21,000 petroglyphs within 1/2 mile! Go early or late for best light to view and/or photo

The only downside was the swarms of mosquitos. I'm obviously so sweet that they all wanted to feast on me :)
The dump station was a bit hard to find on the way out.
Our Verizon connection was 3-4 bars with the booster. 1-2 bars without.
