“Great for Chilling”

We stayed here for 3 nights before exploring Savannah. (We moved to the Visitor Center for Savannah exploring!!). You can easily access Tybee Island and Savannah from here, or it’s far enough away that you can just escape for a few days. Price was $42/night + an extra vehicle fee for 1st night of $5 so we just bought the ‘Friends of ... more

Easy access to Savannah and Hilton Head Island. Stayed here 8 days, site comes with cable TV. Great site nice and private.

Tybee Island has nice beaches, but no dogs. Hilton head has 3 dog beaches. After Nov 1, dogs can be off leash if under voice command.

Didn't spend a lot of time at the park we where only passing through. Was a great park close enough to Savannah with moss hanging from the oaks like the Georgia on my mind.

“Great campground. Hate the bugs.”

Reviewed Jun 30, 2017

Overall Rating

Yes the campground is great, with moss hanging everywhere and trails worthy of hiking and all that (see other's reviews). But if you are sensitive to the biting bugs (which I was not before this campground) you are in for a world of hurt. They tore me up something fierce. Trails are good, showers are good, hookups are good, dump sta... more

If you want to stay somewhere smack-dab in the middle of some authentic Georgia Spanish Moss-laden woods, Skidaway Island State Park is the spot for you. Really beautiful wooded scenery all around you. Only complaints were that our campsite was pretty uneven, so much so leveling blocks couldn't compensate, and the nats were pretty bad ... more

“Mossy trees and hiking trails.”

Reservations are necessary, though the sites themselves are first come first serve. The campground at Skidaway State Park is a very big, though the sites are nicely spaced, and some of the partial hookups sites are pretty private. We didn't check out the hiking trails until our last day, don't make that mistake! The Sandpiper and Av... more

“Loved it!”

Reviewed Dec 26, 2016

We absolutely loved this park. The sites were enormous, there was tons of space between the campers, and it was heavily treed. The roads were in excellent condition and the ranger who booked us in was very helpful. Additionally, it was convenient to Savannah and Tybee Island. We only had a 50 amp/water site and we were happy. We... more

“Awesome State Park. Great trails, facilities and access to Savannah. ”

Reviewed Nov 27, 2016

Overall Rating

We had been hearing great things about this state park for awhile and finally made plans to visit. The hiking trails are all well maintained and are great for dogs and bikes. The facilities were top notch and very clean. Super easy access to grocery stores and downtown Savannah. FYI Tybee Island is NOT dog friendly. Highly recommend.
