We stayed here for about a week in January 2024 and overall had a pretty nice stay. At first glance, the park was beautiful. However, maybe because it was the off-season, it was a little less-cared-for after closer inspection. While walking our dog, I noticed many sites were littered with broken glass from previous campers which was not cleaned up the entire time we were there. That is our only major complaint, but since it's a safety concern, it's a big one.
We were site 83 in the Pirates Cove loop where the sites were gravel and most seemed pretty level side-to-side, but many were raised up from the road by a foot or two. Most seemed to have decent spacing between other sites. A pretty big storm rolled through which left large areas of the back loop full of water. This area was also pushed up right against a very active railroad track which runs all day and night. The newer Gulf View sites near the entrance are paved and look very nice with excellent views of the water, but were too expensive for our budget.
On the last day of our stay, our RV's surge protector started throwing some power error codes. The maintenance team showed up quickly, but didn't have the equipment to fix the problem that day. The sewer hookups are built into these large concrete blocks and are almost a foot off the ground, so given the orientation of your particular site and sewer port location/height on your rig, your sewer hoses may have to run a little uphill. No other issues with sewer or water.
During our visit, the pool and water park were closed for the season, but the laundry room, gift shop, arcade, playground and restrooms were all open and quite nice! Since it was cold and rainy, we didn't try out the nature trail and disc golf course.
The park was mostly empty due to the time of year, and there wasn't much to do around the park except some shops and waterfront dining in Bay St. Louis (15 minute drive) and a casino (5 minute drive). We ended up taking a day-trip to New Orleans (1 hour drive) and spotted the Infinity Science Center about 20 minutes from the park.
You will have to cross the railroad track to get to the park regardless of which way you take. Since it's so close to the Gulf, the tracks are raised up on a pretty steep berm, so the crossings aren't very RV friendly. We managed our 30' travel trailer crossing on Waveland Ave. on the way in, but found the crossing on Clermont Blvd. (South West of the park) to be less extreme.
There are gas stations, grocery stores and some restaurants easily accessible on US90 in Waveland.

We stayed in a Gulf View site (at the front of the park, separate to the main campground) and loved having the view. There is some road noise, not bothersome at night. Concrete pads are clean and level, with grass on each side. Very generous spacing between sites, which we enjoyed. Probably the biggest spacing we’ve had in nearly a year. Good base for touring the area.
Great water pressure, plenty of room to spread out on concrete pad, Starlink worked well.
If staying in a Gulf View site, take note you must register at the office toward the back of the park, but the turn-off to the sites is at the front of the park, as if you’re heading to the water park’s parking lot.
If you’re into fishing, you’ll literally just have a short walk across the road to the Gulf. A small beach and a long concrete walkway make for easy access.

The back loop sites are more remote, better privacy, more shade but the downside is the train that runs 3 to 4 times a day. All the rest are in the open with little shade or privacy but only a bit less noise from the train. They also have "premium" sites along S. Beach Blvd that will have an amazing Gulf view and steps away from a small secluded beach. As far as I can tell ALL the sites are full hookup. Good food, groceries, Wal-Mart 10 mins away. Walking trails, good bike routes through camp, 18 hole disc golf and playground for the kids.
If you work remote or need internet, ATT was only running 15 to 18 mbs & T-Mobile was virtually non existent.

Very nice campground, busy but not loud. Well kept and clean. Right across from the beach. We were there during off season and had the beach all to ourselves. It’s a great location that isn’t too far from several attractions. An hour from Biloxi, an hour from New Orleans, and right down the road from a NASA Center.

Even though it was off season, this park stays busy. As noted in other reviews, the water park is not open during the winter. The sites are fairly level with concrete pads though without vegetation, there is no privacy between sites. The showers were clean and hot, and the laundry room was fine with 4 washers and 4 dryers each costing $2. Though I think 4 washers and 4 dryers are not enough for the number of sites here. Not a great deal of hiking from the park. There is a nature trail that is a couple of miles and you can of course walk along Beach Blvd. Good thing is there is very little traffic on Beach Blvd. Disc golf course that is the most heavily used disc course we have ever seen. It is not overrun, but just has constant players. Do not go for a walk out the south thinkin you will be able to walk in the north side of the park. There is a tall chainlink fence on the northern border for some reason so you can't walk in or out on that side. The south side is wide open for walking.
Lots of people leave bright lights on all night long for some reason. More than I would have expected, certainly more than I desired. I like to walk around in the morning before the sun comes up and you would just get blinded. I don't understand it. Starlink worked very well here.

Our site, 24 in Loop 1, was a back in that was just long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30/50 amp, water and sewer only) were to the left side. Distancing is good as a State Park should be. Some sites had a vegetation privacy barrier. Each site has a table on a concrete patio and some have a fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was well laid out, nicely groomed and a pleasure to be at.
There is park included wifi but it was weak and often impossible to log onto. Our Verizon hotspot worked well. We found a number of OTA channels and satellite should not be too difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean.
There is a Store, Games Room/Arcade etc available (in season). Disk Golf and a Playground and laundry facilities are always available. There is as a Water Park and Wading Pool as well but only during season and it is an additional cost to use them. The beach is a little far to walk to but there is parking available should you wish to drive there.
There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but about a 15 minute drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be a good base to use visiting the local attractions. We paid $34.24 per night (inc Taxes) and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again.
