“Nice campground close to the city”

Reviewed Apr 05, 2019

We picked this campground so that we could visit with a cousin who lives in Austin. Our stay was on a Thursday night in early April and although most sites were occupied, it was a quiet campground with the sites spaced a good distance apart. Some sites were afforded more privacy with trees. Our site (78 in the Big Cedar Loop) had a sli... more

“Nice sized sites with good privacy, and friendly staff.”

We've been living in our trailer full time now for 4+ months and have stayed at many places paying typically $0-$23 per night. We chose this campground for it's proximity to Austin where we wanted to visit. Staff was friendly. Sites were good sized and spread out far enough from each other to give good privacy. We’ve been traveling all over Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern California. This is one of our favorite state parks! First of all, this site was amazing. We could not see neighbors on all three sides of us! Just beautiful trees and greenery. The hiking trails were amazing. However the best part was the proximity to downtow... more

“Nature in the big city.”

Reviewed Feb 04, 2019

McKinney Falls was a pleasant surprise near the heart of Austin. It had easy access to downtown, but still was it's little oasis in nature. Each campsite had good privacy and space as well as multiple options for back in and pull through sites. Bathrooms were clean and had a nice set-up for showers. Most of the main trails are part... more

This is a hidden gem close to Austin Texas. We camped here and visited family and saw the Austin sights. Remember Austin traffic! This is a heavily treed park with a variety of sites/showers and McKinney Falls! The falls are a popular swimming spot and lots of places to slip into the river along it's banks. There were some nice ... more

“Great Place Close to Austin”

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Austin. It’s about a 20 minute drive from the city, making it an affordable and convenient lodging option. Even though there were a lot of spaces and the park was busy, there was good privacy between the sites so we didn’t feel like we were surrounded by people. The downsides were that... more

We picked up our first TT and wanted to do a trial run at a park close to home, in case anything went wrong. So we picked McKinney Falls. It is so close to Downtown Austin and there is a Walmart only 10 min. away. As soon as you pull through the drive the park is so spread out and tranquil.
