This park is not very large in land area, but is very close to Austin and a good jumping off point for day trips into the hill country. Sites vary greatly from large and secluded to small and tight. Restrooms are out dated and only two shower stalls per loop with approximately 40 sites each. Trails are well maintained and lightly used during the week. Much busier on the weekends. Some of the city roads surrounding the park are quite rough.

We stayed for four nights, the week of memorial day, in our pop-up and had water and electricity. Both services function perfectly, especially the electricity during the hot Austin weather.
The park was well located in the south east part of Austin, and allowed us to easily get to downtown or other fun areas of the city. The park gates do close at 10 PM, but you are provided a key code to get in if needed.
The sites were well-maintained and provided ample space. Both sets of restrooms were always clean and the showers were free of charge.
I worked during the week and was disappointed that the cell phone service wasn’t as strong.

Sites are water and electric only. Our site had a flat tent area for camping, as well as a picnic table. The dump station is easy to get in and out of, whether you're dumping on arrival or on departure (we did both). We took a dip in the lower falls, and also hiked some of the trails. The park is dog-friendly overall, although dogs aren't allowed in the water. Cell signal: 5G is available on Verizon and AT&T.
Depending on traffic, we were about 15-25 minutes away from downtown Austin, and there are grocery stores and other shops within 10-15 minutes away.
Note that the campground rate is $20/night, and you'll also pay a $6 per person per day park fee (which you can avoid if you buy a Texas State Park Pass, but I opted not to do this since I won't be staying in many state parks here this year). The online booking process is a little odd, so I ended up having to call the office to be sure I was completing the form correctly (since we have a travel trailer, we registered two vehicles - our truck and our trailer; there was also a question about "equipment" if you plan to also have a tent set up on your site).

If you are staying a week or more in TX state parks, definitely worth getting the park pass to cut the individual entrance fees and discount on 2nd night camping. Entry into the park can start with frustration as it can be busy and they don't have an option for campers returning to their site (even though they have multiple lanes available) so you can be left waiting behind multiple cars/campers paying entrance fees for 10-20+ minutes at times. The park itself was beautiful in spring with lots of blue bonnets and wildflowers popping up. Campsites vary greatly in how level they are - we stayed in the upper loop which seemed to be less level than the lower loop. Several MHs were leveled on their jacks leaving front wheels floating 4-6 inches off the ground. Sites are spaced pretty well with lots of trees and brush separating. The bathrooms were functional, but 1 of the 2 women's showers was backed up while we were staying.

Living nearby, we chose this park for our first shakedown trip in our new Airstream. There are a number of good sites for a 28’ trailer. We chose 16 because we planned to camp with friends who would have had 17 and the two sites work well for this. They had to cancel, but we still enjoyed 16. There is partial shade and no neighbors directly behind. The site was in good shape, nearly level (needed 2” on one side). Utilities worked.
There are several good easy hiking trails and an abundance of picnic tables along the creek. The falls themselves are interesting to watch, especially after a heavy rain that preceded us by one day.

In the P/T, the loops are short loops making it difficult for 30’ and larger to drive through it without hitting electric/water posts or trees. We (35’ 5th wheel) only pulled in 2/3 of the way and had to back out of the spot on departure.

Using our Verizon hotspot, the speed was 9 mbps download and 2 mbps upload. Using our AT&T hotspot, the speed was 4.81 down and 3.4 up. Our friends in site 63 had the same struggles. When we talked to another camper (who camps there often), we said, “The reviews said cell signal was decent in this park.” He chuckled and said, “I’ve never known anyone who would say that here.” So, this is a pretty weekend getaway or great location if you don’t have to work.

They could have easily quadrupled the number of campsites they have here, but didn't. Showers were just OK and the price of firewood is a racket! $14.99 per bundle?! Get your firewood outside the park! We did hear some vehicle traffic from the main road at night, but nothing too crazy. Also definitely get the Texas State Park Pass if you're planning to stay for a while, or are visiting other state parks. The daily fees add up!
