Worth buying it if you're in the state for more than 7 days. I stayed in a few spots because I couldn't get last minute reservations over the weekends. 56 was the best! I wouldn't recommend 85 or 59. They have a weird shape that puts you right in the others yard. All other spots were private. Didn't use the bathrooms. Trails were nice and the water was great! Super close to downtown. $20/day this close to the city and this spread out is wonderful!

Their favorite campgrounds because they found friends right off the bat;) great camping memories made.

We stayed here to visit family and friends in the Austin area. Staying in December was pretty neat. We had some warm days to wade in the water and cool days for a fire. Spots are nice and all different sizes. Restrooms are park restrooms but showers were warm and there wasn’t a ton of traffic in them. We use them since there are six of us and I don’t want to dump every other day! :)
Sites weren’t very level. Looks like most did have a decent amount of leveling.
There is some traffic noise, but didn’t keep me up.

My 30amp space was supposed to be a pull-through but there was no way that was going to happen. Backing in wasn't too bad, though. The power was good, water was good, Internet was good. The restrooms are very clean.
I didn't get much of a chance to explore the park but what I did see was really nice. The only catch was that my porch/awning space faced directly toward the people camping (crouched) right next to me. Super nice people, though. I would stay here again, but would try to reserve a spot with a bit more privacy (58 looked really nice).

Good campground…30 amp,
With water and dump station. Clean bathrooms. Nice hiking trails. Site 5 was hard to get my 40’ fifth wheel into. Lots of other sites seem more accommodating for a large rig.

Super close to Austin and lots of activities, took a few day trips 20-30 minutes away to see the sights.
Had 50 amp, water, but no sewer.

I would come again in the Fall or Spring. Very hot in the summer. Hike early in the summer and venture out to Austin for lunch and return to your campsite in the evening. Just my suggestion to stay away from the heat when camping in the summer Texas heat. Overall this is a well established park with plenty of history behind it.

This is the second time we've camped at McKinney Falls. Until last year we didn't know it existed. It is near the airport in Austin so you are pretty close to the city. Even though you're near the airport we weren't aware of noise from airplanes. Most sites are fairly wooded. We were there in June with hot weather. The pads are asphalt and get soft in the heat. My only complaint is that small bits of tar and small rocks stuck to the bottom of my shoes. Site 57 was nice. We had a large, wooded space on our awning side and could barely see our neighbor because of the trees and bushes on our driver's side. Sites are not real level, ours sloped to the back. We were able to get local TV with our antenna but no wifi in park.

Trails are all easy and average excitement but well maintained. Bath houses were older and most had 2 stalls in both men’s and women’s s sides. I think the biggest appeal to this park is it’s close proximity to Austin. You can be at a grocery store in less than 10 minutes and be downtown Austin in about 20 but at the same time feel very far and detached from the hustle and bustle of it all.
