"Expensive for a basic campground "

This is a nice campground near Estes Park that reminds me of some national park campgrounds I have stayed in. There are several campground areas within Hermit Park and, according to the friendly and helpful staff at the visitor’s center, they... Read more

"Great spot between Tucson and Phoenix!"

Plenty of spots spread far and wide on this patch of BLM land just north of Tucson. Cactus aplenty as well as some good places to wander / hike while you’re here. Good strong Verizon signal as well. The only drawback (and it’s relatively... Read more

"Nothing to write home about but a decent spot for an overnight stay"

This is just off I-19 south of Tucson. Five miles of paved roads will get you to what is literally a wide spot just off the road. 2-3 rigs could stay here pretty comfortable; 5-6 if you don’t mind being close to neighbors.

"Quiet spot along the South Carolina Coast"

While the restrooms and campground could be a bit cleaner and well maintained this is really a great spot. I came in for one night (without a reservation) and stayed for six. It’s only 30 miles from Charleston and right on the Palmetto Trail and... Read more

"My Favorite Campsite Ever!"

I heard about this spot from a ranger at the North Rim. It is the single most beautiful place I have ever stayed. As the Kaibab National Forest website states: "Marble Viewpoint offers a spectacular, panoramic view of House Rock Valley,... Read more

"Gateway to Yosemite"

I wanted to drive the Tioga Road into Yosemite and stopped here to spend a couple of nights. It is $5 a night cheaper than a couple of other nearby NFS campgrounds, primarily because water is not available here. (But you can always sneak into... Read more

"Great spot except for bugs and train noise"

After driving through the Columbia River Gorge I was looking for a spot to camp for the night. I pulled into the Deschutes River State Recreation Area and was immediately impressed. The campground has a loop for those who need hookups but I... Read more

"Quiet and Free!"

Nearby Collier State Park is where most folks want to go but this NFS campground just a mile or two away is no slouch. Located near the Williamson River and nestled in a Ponderosa Pine forest it is a nice, relaxing spot to hang out for a few days.... Read more

"Minutes away from Canyonlands with views all around"

This was a nice surprise when visiting Canyonlands National Park. It's about 10 miles outside the park entrance and quiet, clean and restful.
