“Noisy shooting range”

Reviewed Mar 16, 2019

Overall Rating

People are allowed to shoot guns here, and during our stay, it was primarily around the mountain-side. We camped near the entrance of this location so we could be as far from the shooters as possible. There was road noise coming from one direction and gun-shots coming from the other.

On the upside, Desert Peak is conveniently located to the freeway, just 30 minutes north of Tucson. We enjoyed walking on the dirt roads through a desert dense with cactus, though it was a bit unnerving walking near the shooters.

We were able to work from here primarily on AT&T with our booster.

“Great spot between Tucson and Phoenix!”

Reviewed Mar 15, 2019

Overall Rating

Plenty of spots spread far and wide on this patch of BLM land just north of Tucson. Cactus aplenty as well as some good places to wander / hike while you’re here. Good strong Verizon signal as well.

The only drawback (and it’s relatively minor, imho) is that it’s also a popular firing range so you’ll hear lots of “pops” during the day.
