I wanted to drive the Tioga Road into Yosemite and stopped here to spend a couple of nights. It is $5 a night cheaper than a couple of other nearby NFS campgrounds, primarily because water is not available here. (But you can always sneak into one of the other campgrounds OR fill at the Inyo National Forest Free Drinking Water Fill Station about a mile west of the junction with Highway 395 before heading up the "hill."

I was here in mid September 2016 and it got down below freezing at night and we even had some light snow one morning. Even still the days were clear and in the 50s/60s. I especially liked the hike on the Bennettville Trail, which starts right in the campground.

Be aware that navigating this campground will be tight for larger rigs but my 23' motor home did fine. Also note there is no cell service at all. Lastly, sites are packed together closely so be prepared to get to know your neighbors! But if you want to see that backside of Yosemite, this is a good spot.
