Wow what a view! All sites are overlooking the beautiful ocean with a few paths down steps and over driftwood to get to the sandy beach. The campsites have fire pits and tables and you can park however you like near your table. Most sites can accommodate rigs of many sizes. Our 37 foot fifth wheel fit just fine. The sites are close together without trees or anything in between, but the view more than makes up for it! No hookups or water but there is a bathroom with flush toilets. Camp host was very friendly and helpful. Do watch out for mice here though! Both we and our friends had mice get in our trailers here in September.

Normal $15 a night $7.50 with senior pass. Your paying for a spot to park on the beach. The views are beautiful you can see whales breaching. There are bathrooms, no potable water, no dumps and no electric. The spots are close. It’s worth a night or two for the views. Had straight talk service for cell.

Rate is $15 but we paid 7.50 with Senior National Pass. Several sites along the water( great view) some are more level than others. Keith, the host very helpful. Was only going to stay 1 night ended up staying 3. No showers.
No water or dump but can go to park next door and use them there.

After a day of hiking at the Hoh Rain forest we weren't sure where we were going to stay. We originally pulled into a campground before this one that was completely booked so we continued south keeping a look out for other campgrounds. We saw the sign for South Beach and took a chance. They have a unique reservation system where can look at the bulletin board and find a spot that doesn't have a card in it. If you find a site you like and it's not taken you drop your card in the slot and put your 15.00 in the box! Kevin the camp host came around on his bike to help us out and we ended up with a nice site in the "second" row. I loved this campground in that it had a special vibe. Maybe it was the way the sites were set up? I don't know but we loved chatting the night away with many of the other campers!
Pros:
Extra large sites
Mostly level
Ocean front
Whale watching and beach combing
Cement picnic tables
Fire Pits (Part of the Olympic National Park so fires were allowed)
Bathrooms and showers (I did not look at either)
Fun, casual vibe
Seemed like mostly local Washingtonians
Cons:
No hook-ups

The Ocean sites are the 5 Star Sites, but there are many others with ocean views that are beautiful. All sites are first come, first serve sites, so the weekends are really busy and weekdays are lighter traffic.
For Ocean view and beach walks & campfires at night, I highly recommend this campground. 5 Star *****.

We had made a reservation at Kalaloch, but the ocean front site we had reserved was too small for our rig (even if it stated on recreation.com that it was good up to 36 feet long rig - our bus is 35). We had made a reservation at Kalaloch, but the ocean front site we had reserved was too small for our rig (even if it stated on recreation.com that it was good up to 36 feet long rig - our bus is 35). AND the cell reception was not good enough there for work (3G only even with the booster), so the Ranger sent us here to South Beach Campground (also park of the National Park) where the signal was much better, but the sites much less interesting. They were nice enough to give us 3 nights here for the 2 nights (at $22) we had paid in advance at Kalaloch. We were quite impressed!
As others have stated, the campground is more or less a big open field by the sea. You might be lucky enough to snatch a first-row site, or you might be stuck on the third row like we were. We could still see the sea (and the neighbors very close!). The beach is beautiful with lots of driftwood to build forts for the kids (you are also allowed to collect some for fires). Dogs are allowed on the beach (on leash). No dump or water on site, but Kalaloch has a dump for $5 and water spigots by the bathrooms.

This spot is little more than a parking lot but is right on the beach in Olympic National Park. We loved the beach here but the campground was very crowded and a bit noisy at times. The spots aren't marked so it's a bit tricky to determine where your spot ends and begins. Hopefully you have friendly neighbors like we did.

South Beach has been on our "must return" list since we were here two years ago. This time we got the "host" site (#57) which is slightly separated from the rest of the sites. Cell reception hasn't improved - we had 2 bars on both AT&T & Verizon that would wander in and out, but had four strong bars of Verizon with our amplifier and old trucker antenna. Price was up $5 per night from two years ago, but still a great deal, especially with the senior pass 50% discount. (The price I show is the full price - $7.50/night discount price)

Minutes after arriving, while my bf was registering us, I was just about to tie my dog up when a poop-faced couple came-a-walking. I said a cheery, "Hello!" The woman, instinctively, sort of almost smiled back. Her lips quickly turned slanted to match her constipated husband's face, though. A few minutes after that, my bf was back, and we were headed to the beach. He was ahead of me, on the beach, and I was leashing my dog by our RV. The camp host drove by, lectured me about leashing dogs, then yelled down to my bf at the water. Our dogs are very nice, friendly, mind their own business, don't run up to people, don't fight other dogs, don't bark, they did nothing that could annoy anybody, and there was barely anybody on the beach because it was May. In fact, I don't think anybody was walking on that beach the first time we got scolded. We did keep our dogs tethered the rest of our stay except for a few times, and each time they were off leash momentarily we got busted. We got four lectures about leashing our dogs in less than 24 hrs. So, this is a great spot if you don't like dogs! For dog lovers, though, it was pretty ridiculous to have to walk them on a leash on the unpopulated stretch of beach. Heck, when you go further south, there are dogs running around everywhere on the beach, in crowded locations. I'd rather be there. Other than that, it was awesome being so close to the ocean! Five stars for that. But there were no water taps anywhere, not even in the bathroom, so you couldn't fill a tub to wash dishes. We had to wash dishes with Aquafina.
