We stayed on the northside of the road about a mile before you get to the Wildlife Refuge sign. Lots of wide open spaces and plenty of great spots to choose from.
Some highway noise (Hwy 95) during the day and artillery blasts coming from nearby Yuma Proving Grounds occasionally.
It's about a 25 minute drive to Quartzsite for water, dump, or propane refills which are abundant especially this time of year. However, it is much quieter that the LTVA just outside Quartzsite.

Cell phone service 2-3 bars with AT&T/Sprint. One night was windy and did not have service for an hour or two. Calling and texting not much of a problem other time, but surfing the internet was very slow- perhaps being in a metal box was the cause.
Most cars and trailer will not have an issue here, unless you want to get much closer to the mountains on Queen Canyon road- then 4WD and high clearance would be needed.

Best camping experience in Arizona so far and one of the coolest areas to camp Ive been to! Kofa is pretty close to Quartzsite for supplies or facilities. almost an endless amount of space to camp on this road and the others! can camp a couple hundred yards into the road or drive the whole way down and camp at the end! tent camping, RV, van, truck, anything possible. pretty easy road to drive down and spots along the road are very level. The location was amazing with chances to off road on rougher roads, hike a few trails, explore the abandoned buildings and mines, visit Crystal Dome City Mine, etc. Amazing sunrises and sunsets on clear days and great star gazing as well. Sites are very clean and I didn't see any trash throughout the park. All the sites were pretty awesome and some of the best closer to the canyon. be careful definitely only camp within 100ft of the road ive heard people get in trouble for that a lot. Didnt hear anyone else while camping there, plenty of space to spread out. a major plus with some cell phone service too!

Where one can get off the main road it’s sometimes confusing. So if your in a rig that isn’t easily maneuverable I would recommend getting out and walking your path way first if it isn’t real obvious. Otherwise once settled in the scenery is great and the openness is spectacular.

You know it’s a good site when you keep saying… just one more day for 3 or 4 days. Lol. We loved our stay in the Palm Canyon Road dispersed camping area. Palm Canyon Road is dirt/gravel but well maintained. Lots of large, level spots on either side of the road. We stayed on the left, about 3 miles in just before the boundary to the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Find a fire ring and settle in. No amenities unless you consider solitude and gorgeous views amenities, which we do!
There is plenty to do here besides enjoy the mountain views and beautiful night skies. The Palm Canyon hike is well worth the time and we rode our bikes to Skull Rock (about 14 miles R/T). We also visited Crystal Hill, did the Hull Mine museum and tour, and drove to the King of Arizona mine.
Be advised, we were visited twice by friendly local camp robbers during our stay. Small desert foxes stole our BBQ brush and came back a second time for dog treats we accidentally left outside in a pack. We also had a coyote waltz right through camp one morning and spotted a bobcat on the drive to King of Arizona mine. It was very fun seeing the locals. Lol.
We had decent cell coverage, getting 3-4 bars of Verizon 4G.

The road can be a little busy during the day because there is a hiking trail at the end of the road, which I recommend you hike, if you are able. But the night time was nice and peaceful.
As a previous review said, it's far enough away that you get a beautiful sky full of stars.
Watch your pets, lots of spurs and cactus.
Our Tmobile was enough to get some service. We watched some YouTube but had buffering.
Gorgeous spot, with some exploring to do!

Warning if you have dogs the cholla is really bad the closer you get to the canyon and people drive really fast on the road, but there’s a wash on the south side of the road backed up to the hills that is wide and cholla free. I walked my dogs here everyday and didn’t see anyone else in the wash.
