We stayed 2 weeks in May 2024. Don’t book sites 40-48 as they are not level front to back. In the 30 amp section, the best sites are 2,4,6, 56 and 57. We stayed 2 weeks in May 2024. Don’t book sites 40-48 as they are not level front to back. In the 30 amp section, the best sites are 2,4,6, 56 and 57. We initially booked site 42, but after we arrived we realized this site would not do. Called the office and the manager drove out and offered us site 50, which was ok. After one week we moved to site 64, which was 50 amp and level, but full sun. The best shaded 50 amp sites are 39-55. The others have partial shade. The bath house is great, 6 shower/sink/toilet combos and a separate men’s and women’s toilet/sink, plenty of hot water. There is a dishwashing station but the sinks are inadequate. The dump station with black tank flush is on the back side of the bath house with the fresh water fill area. The fresh water is too close to the sewer in my opinion. The campground is imbedded in the county park. There is a fantastic water park with lazy river, tons of picnic areas, hiking & mountain biking trails, skate park, hockey rink, ball fields, just really a great park. It is several miles from the Weihle-Reston Metro stop. Parking in the garage (pay), but low clearance. There is an open air parking area across the expressway (pay). You can get senior metro tickets in the station which is half price of the full fare. It takes 40-60 minutes to get into DC, depending on who is driving. There are grocery stores close by, Sprouts and Safeway and the Herndon Laundromat is good, clean and reasonably priced. Ice and wood at the office.

Very clean bathroom and pleasant welcome. Security agent present at all times because campsite is annexed to a skate park. Very safe and quiet. I recommend to everyone.

Great park, lots to do, nice camp store. Campground is way back, quite a drive from the entrance, but that's ok. There were a few sites occupied by folks who looked like they were staying a while, lots of 'junk' in their sites, but everyone was polite and kept to themselves. sites around the outside had a bit more space and privacy, sites on the inside loop were on top of each other. stayed in early April and it was full, along with large family type parties at the picnic areas. roads in and out were good, dump station and water fill area were behind the bathrooms. Bathrooms looked new, very nice and were very clean. good showers, very hot water which is always nice.

Stayed in Sites 22 and 24 at end of the rows for a culmination of 5 nights. Bit of a drive from entrance of park to sites but cleanliness of general area was maintained quite well. Stayed in Sites 22 and 24 at end of the rows for a culmination of 5 nights. Bit of a drive from entrance of park to sites but cleanliness of general area was maintained quite well. Bathrooms/showers were generally clean with little to no bugs. Lawn maintenance came at respectable hours. Okay tree cover with openings to night sky for viewing/Starlink access. No sewer hook up at site but the one nearby the bathrooms was good besides the troublesome potable water dispenser. Dumpsters are located between skatepark and beginning of RV rows.
Many opportunities for activities such as nearby skate park, large grassy areas, trails around pond and to nearby metro station (40 min walk), nearby water park, etc. Plane traffic wasn’t too disruptive. Proximity to DC isn’t bad, expect traffic and construction zones.

So there are hardly and camping sites from Richmond to DC Especially in a “good area” of Virginia like Reston. The KOA in Fredericksburg /DC is horrible. Only the club house and the e trance is kept up. The rest is trash. This place has hot showers … hot hot and spotless bathhouses and bathrooms. No trash and clean somewhat level sit... more

This place has hot showers … hot hot and spotless bathhouses and bathrooms. No trash and clean somewhat level sites. Even room for my 45’ class A towing. Sites 12-20 are the best for a very very big vehicle because the entire driveway is level. Others have a level “Spot” at the top good for about 30-35 ‘ rv. Nice wide spaces with lots of grass and fire ring and picnic tables. Good tent camping area, beautiful trails, and a lovely shady lake. Right in the center of all the local major activities … check out the Reston farmers market. Oh only draw back no water hook ups or sewer hook ups but water and dump available

Absolutely the worst campground we have ever stayed in! We’ve been here just a few hours and have had over a dozen different people walk through the middle of our site! They walked literally between our picnic table and camper. It’s amazing! I would be surprised if we wake up tomorrow and still have all of our gear with everyone walkin... more
Absolutely the worst campground we have ever stayed in! We’ve been here just a few hours and have had over a dozen different people walk through the middle of our site! They walked literally between our picnic table and camper. It’s amazing! I would be surprised if we wake up tomorrow and still have all of our gear with everyone walking through. We camp regularly and have never seen anything like this! The location is convenient but even with that it’s still not worth it!

This is a decent park if you need easy access to the DMV area and perhaps if you’re a mountain biker. We are remote workers with a T-Mobile and Verizon setup and struggled to get any data at all. Campers here are not respectful of basic camping etiquette and there is a loud skate park within walking distance that brings heavier traffic... more

Campers here are not respectful of basic camping etiquette and there is a loud skate park within walking distance that brings heavier traffic. The showers are private and hot so that is definitely a perk but overall this is not a great camping experience. Loved checking in with the park manager who is a great guy. He made this place earn 3 stars over 2.

We really hate to give this place a 1 star rating, but the ongoing vandalism by the skaters at the skatepark reached an escalation point during our stay. 4 AM we hear a very loud crashing sound on the RV. We rush outside to find that someone deliberately flipped the 75lb picnic table over and into the side of our RV causing minor... more
We really hate to give this place a 1 star rating, but the ongoing vandalism by the skaters at the skatepark reached an escalation point during our stay.
4 AM we hear a very loud crashing sound on the RV.
We rush outside to find that someone deliberately flipped the 75lb picnic table over and into the side of our RV causing minor cosmetic damage. The corner cap on the slide was broken and there were scuff marks from the paint on the picnic table. I was able to buffer out the paint, glued together the corner cap, and ordered a new one from Winnebago ($24). The damage wasn't bad, but one day these kids are going to come up to the wrong RV and it's not going to end well.
Management and the camp host were very concerned, and very attentive. It was explained to us that it was most likely the skaters from the skatepark. We were told that they would bring power tools from home and cut down the signs that the park put up saying no skating past 10PM. They are retaliating against the campers in the campground now.
The local police wont do anything about it because it's petty crime.
There was another picnic table that was also flipped, luckily it was not near the RV.
I honestly cannot recommend anyone stay here. There's another campground directly East that will put you closer to D.C (Cherry something).

We stayed here the beginning of October and it was packed. We tried to book a third night, but they were full. The campground was quiet and very clean. It's a very big county park that is heavily used. Very well maintained. Sites are electric only. No water and no dump. There is a dump & fill station.
