For the price of these campsites, the state of the sites is honestly kind of highway robbery. 2 weeks was just shy of 1000 dollars to be at an intense angle…
The staff is rude, and the individuals driving the NOVA trucks will run you off the road while they blast through the campground. “Two week max stay every 45 days” but they have campers that have literally never moved in 3 years and look like heaps of trash.
Only con is the park itself is nice, and there’s not any other options really in the northern va area. Little to no service from any carrier so if you’re trying to work here it’s damn near impossible

We stayed here for six nights. It was a home base as we were traveled during the day to Washington DC and Shenandoah national Park. Check in was pleasant. (Just a reminder that they ask for your vehicle and also your rigs license plate numbers.) Directions/ signage are not very good in telling you where to go to get to the campground, but once there it is a big place with lots of trees! The sites are not your usual sites, at least they weren’t for us, as they run parallel to the road. The sites all seemed to have plenty of space between each site. Our site #126 was not level at all. Be sure to bring extra blocks or how hat have you in case you need to use them to level your rig. The park also has a bathhouse with shower and restrooms along with a laundromat. $2 per load and $2 for dryer (not sure how long that last. Sorry) east site has a wooden picnic table and a fire pit.
The campground also has cabins you can rent. They have a nice playground and waterpark (closed for the season) & a frisbee golf course if you choose to participate. It is true that there is a shooting range close by and it is busy especially on the weekends! They seemed to stop shooting at sunset. The park also gets airplanes over too which can be a bit noisy as well, but if you go out and see the sights during the day by the time you get back all the noise is on the down slope. This is a regional park and they hold a Festival of Lights and the staff was gearing up for that! It was cool to drive up through the park at night to witness them all. I’m sure it’s a busy place with many cars/visitors, when they officially open it. All in all we are glad we stayed here!

You share the forest with creatures: raccoons, owls, deer, ticks, mosquitoes, Sasquatch, UFOs, etc. It’s a beautiful park. If you’re a Karen, don’t stay here. There are plenty of things to set you off. Including a County shooting range within earshot, Dulles air traffic overhead, and the occasional aroma of legal cannabis. Don’t select site 112. It has falling dead branches and a defective 30 amp circuit. The camp is very close to restaurants, USPS, fuel, Giant, Whole Foods, etc. Recommend.

We paid $40 for electric plus water. There is a public dump on the way out. So many things to do with kids including a water park. 10 minutes drive from the National Park Battlefields. Bathrooms and showers were clean and fine. Great hiking in the area and retail close by - supermarket, Walmart, drug stores, etc. We have a small camper and thought access was just fine.

Having lived in Northern VA for over 20 years, I expected better from NOVA Parks. Access road has lots of low-hanging trees, but even in the park and in our site, trees were pulling on my antenna.
It's a beautiful park, though. Lots of green space for kids to play, and sites are pretty level, but entry is tight. The outer ring of sites, parked nose-to-tail, is where they put the big rigs, and the hookups are on the inside of the sites, so you have to turn around and face toward the exit to get hooked up. That means a K-turn with a 36' class A. There is no place to turn around, and the main road doesn't loop back (actually it does, but there is a locked gate keeping you from doing so.)
The only other criticism is that there is only the dump station at the entrance, and one of the two water connections at that station isn't working right.
Pretty expensive ($61 includes fees, taxes, and the Good Sam discount) for what they provide.

Mid May was a good time to park here. The mornings and evenings were cooler and I enjoyed all the places I could walk my dog. I went all the way past the full hookups and got a 30AMP site 82 after leaving a couple nights and coming back after staying at 47. Both sites were fine. The shower facilities in this area may not have been as nice as I see others comment (I think there are 3 separate ones) but I did use the shower facilities. I could only get hot water in one shower. This was fine as there weren’t a lot of folks camping. The staff are very friendly: one Saturday warm afternoon I had seen a black snake twice. The NOVA staff were rolling by and immediately one guy jumped out and grabbed the snake, he says, “I don’t know why he’s so irritated.” As he handled him. Then says, “Do you want to touch him?”. Um. No thanks.
My dog carried a few ticks out of the trail so be wary: ticks, snakes, etc., it is the middle of the woods after all. Still, it was nice and quiet and I felt very safe and comfy.
I had 5 nights left but we kicked out early after.a run in with an aggressive dog (no collar or leash). Not sure the owner was paying attention but it freaked me out so bad I just packed up and left…drove all the way to SC. If I would have complained I felt like it could have ruined a family weekend so I just left. It was nerve wracking though; I totally was not expecting that in the campground.
There is a shooting range but since I was working in my van most of the day; I hardly heard it and it didn’t seem to bother me. Lots of tent campers come in on the weekend (with their dogs). If you can just use the electric sites around the back of the grounds and just use the nice dump station/water station for your tanks you’ll get more privacy.
There was never a line at the dump station (there are two stations).

I stayed at Site 143, electric only, for two nights in mid-April, Tue and Wed, for a local shakedown trip with my new popup. The loop I was on, sites 135 to 150, is mostly electric only and set up more for tent camping. They are mostly pull-through, but the electric pedestals are oddly placed, making it difficult to set up with the RV door away from the road but toward the picnic table. I was able to make my site work because I have a very small maneuverable A-frame pop up, and squeezed it in between the electric and the table. A larger rig could fit in many of these sites, but you might need an extension cord. On this loop, site 144 was quite muddy, even though it hadn't rained recently. Site 148 is right next to the bathhouse, and cut throughs could be an issue.
Most of the larger RVs were on the next loop with full hookups, sites 94-129. That loop was nearly full even though it was mid-week in April, but the loop I was on only had a few tent campers and me.
Sites are gravel/dirt, with some good separation, although in April very few leaves were on the trees and bushes. I had to level my camper about 4-5 inches side to side, but I was slightly outside the pull through track. I saw many RVs using multiple boards.
I counted twelve bird species just at my campsite. This time of year, the highlight of the park is the Bluebell Trail, with thousands of bluebells in bloom.
I heard some shooting from the shotgun range on Wed. morning, but that was it. The birds were louder at my site. Weekends will definitely be busier, but if you stay toward the entrance half of the campground, it shouldn't be overly annoying. Don't expect complete peace and quiet all the time, as you are in the middle of a highly developed metro area. Traffic noise from I-66 is noticeable outside at night but not annoying.
Nice bathhouse on this loop, with soap dispensers, hand dryers, and towel hooks. Five shower rooms, including one ADA, with separate entrances. Cleaned regularly and all functioning well. Camp store sells basics and bundles of firewood for $9. Pleasant staff.
Non-NoVA residents pay an extra $4/night for an electric-only site, but you can find various promotions on the NovaParks.com website. I got $19 off two nights using a 25% off weekday promotion.

The campsites are large and for the most part level. 118 needs to be backed into with your rig adjacent to the hookups to avoid long runs, otherwise you’ll need every bit of water, power and sewer hose. 118 was convenient to the path to the bath house but that means others walking past your campsite. Wood is expensive from the camp store ($9) but you should be able to supplement from deadfall in the woods.
Overall Bull Run is a nice campground that’s close to DC and the Va countryside.
Try out the Winery at Bull Run on 29 and hike the battlefields. They’re both great local destinations that are close.
Camping World in Manassas is less than 15 minutes away as well as Walmart, Home Depot and other shopping/dining options.

We chose this park for its proximity to Washington DC. A short drive (approx 30 min.) to the Vienna Metro station (all day parking $4.95) for the train to Smithsonian station puts you right in the center of the Capitol Mall area. Taking the Metro in avoids the i66 east-bound toll road (E-Z pass ONLY), snarled traffic due to commuters/construction, and expensive/limited parking in DC.
The park setting of the campground is beautiful with mature trees; bathrooms are clean; laundry available.
The BIG negative to this campground is the constant, dawn-to-dusk GUNFIRE from the very nearby shooting range. No big deal if you leave at daybreak to head into DC for a day of tourism and return after dusk. If you just want to enjoy your stay here, be prepared for the constant noise of GUNFIRE! DO NOT stay here if your pets are terrified of GUNFIRE!
Certainly NOT a place to relax at your site and enjoy the beautiful setting!

I camped here with a 27’ trailer and a full size truck for my tow vehicle. I originally booked 3 nights with an electric only site. The site was perfect with a nice fire pit/grill combination. Close to the bathroom/shower/laundry building. The sites are well kept and mostly level. I only needed to level using my front trailer jack. My trailer faced a nicely wooded and shady area. The bathroom building is kept meticulously clean. My second 3 days in site 25 was equally nice, a generous pull through site facing the woods. The customer service at this park is excellent. Emma is a gem always going out of her way to accommodate the customer. I recommend this park.

“Does not allow truck campers or truck bed tents”
noted 9/19/2022
Live nearby this campground. Wanted to test out a canvas Kodiak Truck Bed tent I purchased. Informed that only a recent RV class A or B or trailer or a tent on the ground us allowed. Inquired if a truck bed RV camper would be allowed and was told no because they consider it equivalent to camping in your vehicle.
