Mid October stay, so there were few to no tent campers. Very quiet and private this time of year. My site was level (56) and fairly private with the fire ring situated in the very back surrounded by shrubbery. I couldn’t see anyone else’s fire from our location and there were campers on either side.
The trails were beautiful with loads of mushrooms popping up everywhere. It’s very hard to believe you’ve just pulled in off a main surface road to get here. The small loop trail by the camp store (which was very well stocked, if expensive) was decorated with spooky decorations for Halloween.
The downsides were:
🔘The water spigot was nearly impossible to get open or closed. I kind of pulled my back on it.
🔘The person at the camp store gives you a code to get in and out of the gate when you check in. My code didn’t work, and it was after hours when I was trying to come in on my last night. VERY inconvenient! Make sure to test your code during store hours if you plan on leaving at all.
🔘It’s a little expensive.

Just an update because I thought folks might want to know that some of the full hookup sites on the interior of D loop are very unlevel. We saw some big rigs looking pretty precarious on several leveling blocks. The outer side of the loop is better.

There are lots of heavily wooded trails, very nice for hiking. Good camp store, very dog friendly. There are nice activities for the kids. This weekend those include tie-dye, gem mining, ceramics, and a movie. Our site is gravel, fairly level (although definitely not perfectly level), and easy to back into because of the curve in the road.

The park staff are very friendly. We had a FHU site and all the utilities worked well. We were on site 54 and it is a long pull thru. It is not level. We used several leveling blocks and still could not get anywhere near level. The park is beautiful and your camping among the trees. They took down about 200 ash trees in the last couple of years and just left the debris at the campsite. It would be nice if they had cleared it away. All in all a nice county park.

Very nice campground. My site was full hookups and they appeared brand new. It was the second week in October and the trees were just starting to turn. Most sites were quite wooded. The trees over my RV had some dead branches and it was windy but only a few small sticks and acorns fell. They were in the process of clearing out dead wood as I could hear the chainsaws and shredders during the day. There were some open sites mid-week and there was a short trail called the Nature Loop trail. It had been rainy so the trail was buggy (early morning spider webs) and wet in spots but I saw a huge buck on the trail. It was an easy trail. I felt it was kind of expensive but it's a Montgomery County Park and I'm not a resident. My T-Moblie phone showed 5G 2-3 bars.

Stayed here to go to DC. Loop D for RVs. Was 40-60 mins to where I wanted to go. Nat’l Mall, Mt.Vernon, Arlington. Everything was spaced out with a lot of separation between sites. A couple of pull-thrus were close but may be good for small group. Didn’t see any paved pads but all had good layer of gravel. Back to front was downhill and needed to raise front about 10”. Hook ups all close together and look fairly new that sit at back of where unit rests. Very quite (except for gas Kubota the Park uses) throughout all loops. The Store and grounds around it were very clean orderly & nice. Internet was at its best there or down the stairs at a great place to sit with your coffee But, was Also able to capture at site with Wi-fi Ranger Converge. Didn’t try streaming. AT&T data signal was also strong enough to use on limited basis. Was slow LTE.
Laundry facility was closed for repair. Would have been nice to do a load. Didn’t use bath houses but they looked new. PA good Monday-Thursday at 50%. At $66/night it’s a bit rich but they do offer things that look fun for kids but we’re closed for CoVid.

Site D63 was full-hook up (30/50A, H20, Sewer)
There is a Passport America rate that provides an 'East Coast' affordable rate during weekdays. Otherwise... this is a pretty pricey place... but, that does lend to there being some 'last minute' availability most days.
Lots of nature trails weaving throughout the park. Turtles roam about.
We were here during summer 2020 and most activities were closed during to Coronavirus. But, there is typically a jumping pillow, laser tag, pedal carts, etc. The camp store is cute and well-stocked.
This park is quiet, and relaxing. Fills up on weekends. There are a few 'tent only' areas which is a nice touch for tenters. Cabins and yurts are also available.
We're a 40'er with a tag axle towing a Jeep and we had no issue accessing our site or backing in.

Our rate was via Passport. All sites are full hook up. Roads are wide and nicely paved. Sites are huge with great trees for privacy. All sites adequately flat and gravel or pavement. Many areas to walk including nature trail. There was an activity center , paddle car track, bouncy pillow and several playgrounds for the kids. Near Baltimore, Washington, Frederick and Gettysburg. Plenty to do but I wished we were there to just sit in the large secluded lot and read.
Some low branches but not bad. Couldn’t get direct TV but could get local channels. Definitely want to come back and stay again. Also the reservation process was easy. Just called and got reservation right away. Very pleasant staff.

Nice campground near Washington, DC. We are here during the pandemic and find it easy to social distance with an RV. The Emerald Ash Bore has killed many Ash trees in the park and we had to change our campsite to avoid camping under a dead tree. Look up before setting up camp.
