Beautiful area. Nice campground with all the expected Amenities (water, 50A or 30A electric, sewer, clean flush toilets and showers). Very popular campground was full even in mid October. We made reservations months ahead. Sites have enough space in between we didn’t feel like our neighbors were on top of us although there is no real privacy. Other campers were quiet and respectful. The lumber yard across Hwy 101 is a source of constant noise (banging, back-up beeping on big equipment) day and night. Although not “loud”, the noise was constant. Detracted from the natural setting. We were out exploring the area all day, and use ear plugs at night, so it wasn’t a deal-breaker for us, but not sure if we’d stay here again.

Although the campground was relatively quiet , there are too many people crammed into the campground . Getting there from central Oregon was a looong drive and I didn’t feel the effort was worth the time . Besides , Brookings is a tired town with little to offer . I wouldn’t revisit

Pretty much the usual Saturday busy campground, but when Sunday night came, everyone left.
No more dogs, smoke, or noise, and a very peaceful campground to be sure.
Staff was very friendly, grounds were well cared for, and the camp ground is right next to Harris Beach with easy access to walking trails. We had no reservation but found plenty of good sites to choose from and we picked our site for it's location, out of the busy areas. We were next to the road but found no issue with traffic going by. White noise to us, which was welcome. Yurts looked pretty cool, and at $20 for a site with no hookups, we appreciated the free hot showers, dump station and water very much! Our site had a table and a fire ring although we don't like fires so didn't use the fire ring. Thinking about starting a no fire movement. What's the point? Smoke stinks, and we don't ever use a fire to cook with so - marshmallows? Then the pits are always filled with ash and no one, it seems, ever cleans them. Are we the only ones who prefer the smell of pine trees over clouds of white smoke coming from burnt wood? Just sayin...
Anyhow - great campground that should be considered if you're staying anywhere in this area.
And did I mention - no generators allowed here? Amen.

There is a dump station.
Each site is paved and has a picnic table and fire ring. In mid-February all of D Loop and parts of B Loop were closed, but there were still plenty of open spots. All sites were reservable so if you show up you can snag an open spot, but only for one night. You must go on-line or call to make reservations for additional nights (provided the site is available).
The beach is absolutely wonderful with acres of sand at low tide and still plenty of beach for walking and playing at high tide. Dogs are supposed to remain on leash. But we had the entire south beach area all to ourselves so puppy got some play time. At low tide you can walk from the south beach area to the day use beach. The largest island off the Oregon coast is near the day use beach. The island is a nesting/breeding area for rare birds such as the tufted puffin and is designated as a National Wildlife Sanctuary. Because of the birds, climbing on the larger rock formations is prohibited.
We had 2 bars of Verizon 4G unboosted.

I’d say this campground is so so. Typical coastal campground in a heavily used stretch of beach. BUt... it’s great! The beach walking is fantastic, the sunrises and sunsets were epic. It’s also super close to town.

This is a very nice campsite, not too crowded, room between sites. Has restrooms and hot showers for a very reasonable price. Clean and friendly staff. Good Cell service, however it can be a little loud as the some sites in the back are located next to 101.

The ONLY drawback is the noise at night from a nearby timber yard, back up beepers can be heard with windows open most of the night. Otherwise, The campground is clean, the campsites are private, and if you’re lucky enough to get the ones with the Oceanview they can’t be beat. Staff and volunteers are always welcome mean and kind. Adjacent to the beach that’s always been quiet when we’ve visited. A multitude of sites in different sizes and degrees of shade to sunshine but most are private. Clean restrooms and showers. Without the timber mill noise I’d give this park a 5++!

We had an abundance of ripe blackberries growing in our site. It was a bit of a trek to the beach from the campground especially if you are carrying chairs, etc. But doable. The beach was amazing, love all the rocks just off shore. Only a few sites had ocean views: A loop sites 23,24,25 and C1. The only negative about this park(and its a big one) is the VERY LOUD and constant traffic noise from the highway 101. If a driver spit out their window and you were in loop C or D it could hit your tent. Loops A and B were not as close. The park was totally full at the end of July even mid week. Really nice hot showers that you don't have to pay extra for and a clean, functioning dump station.

We stopped here because we're on a road trip, it was close to Portland, and you can reserve online easily. Short hike to beach access. The beach was gorgeous and not many folks were out there in the late afternoon. The campground, however, is busy, noisy, huge, and the sites are paved. You're very close to your neighbors and some of ours were loud. We were there on a weekend and it was full. If you don't really like spending time in nature, this is a good spot for you. They even have normal toilets. However, if you like to camp in nature and enjoy privacy, don't expect to enjoy this campground. It wasn't a bad place at all, just not our style.

Harris Beach State Park is a beloved camping spot on the Oregon Coast, and it lives up to that reputation.
When I visited in April 2018 much of the campground was undergoing renovations, so there were more closed campsites than open. Even still, it was not an issue to find a camping spot without a reservation. I stayed in the D loop, which is always first-come-first-served. The price I paid, $20/night, reflects the rate of a dry camping site. Sites with electric and water, or electric, water and sewer, are more expensive.
The site was level and afforded a surprising amount of privacy from its neighbors. The sites are forested but I had no trouble chasing the sun with solar panels to fill my batteries. The bathrooms are immaculately clean, including the heated showers with plentiful hot water.
The beach is an easy walk from the campground, and is beautiful at sunset. Harris Beach State Park is right outside of downtown Brookings, which has a reasonably priced grocery store, mechanics, restaurants, hiking trails, and a fantastic library.
The only downside that I could see to Harris Beach was the traffic noise. Because it's right on Highway 101, the traffic noise drowns out the ocean. The semi truck brakes are particularly jarring, and happen at all times of day and night. Cell service is existent but a bit slow. Things speed up considerably just down the road in Brookings. But still. It's a gorgeous spot, and I'd stay again in a heartbeat.
