“BLM Campground, Driving Distance to White Sands”

Reviewed Apr 28, 2017

Overall Rating

This was a decent campground with some beautiful views and a few trailheads very close to the the campground. You will be about 30 min from Las Cruces, which is the nearest town for grocery shopping, etc. There isn't much to do in town, so don't plan on spending much time there. Bathrooms were pretty clean, although they did run out of... more

“NOT dispersed camping!”

Reviewed Apr 28, 2017

Overall Rating

I must have mixed this campground up with another, but was expecting standard BLM dispersed camping. We arrived at about 8:30 at night, and it's a legit campground that closes at 8, so we had to turn around and drive to our next best option.

“Holiday weekend warning!”

Reviewed Apr 19, 2017

Overall Rating

We arrived the Monday after Easter to find the most trash-strewn campground we've ever been in. Apparently, it was a mob scene here for the holiday, so packed that you couldn't drive through, and 6 cop cars cruising around to keep things under control. The locals use this campground for day use and picnicking, which means that you mi... more

We found this BLM property when looking for somewhere to stay close to White Sands NM and it was perfect! No hook ups, quiet, clean, level and spacious spots with wonderful views in the Organ mountain national recreational area. We are traveling around the country full time and this is one of our favorite stops. Folks warned about the ... more

A real gem in the BLM inventory, 7 miles off the road with a bit of elevation gives you a birds eye view of the Sonora desert near the White Sands National Monument. Surrounded by the majestic peaks every direction offers a different view, the hike is not to be missed if you are fit, good trails, well marked, approx 5 miles with appare... more

This campground is located right in the Organ Mountains between Las Cruces and White Sands. The $3.00 rate reflects the price using a National Parks Annual Pass. In order to get to this campground you need to drive up a steep, very winding road for about 5 miles. The sign when entering the campground indicates that trailers longer... more
