No problems with the road in our 20ft Travato. The road becomes one-way before you arrive at the campground. The first few sites are located right off the shoulder off the road (#1-5) then there is a loop of maybe two dozen sites off a loop to the right. We didn't realize until we found a spot in there and walked back to the road to pay, that there are more roadside sites and a second loop of campsites further up the one-way road. But you can't go back to the first loop if you want to drive ahead to check out the second loop, without re-circling the entire one-way route! Most free sites were eroded or sloped but #8 worked (fortunately no one camped in #6 or #7 which share a parking space continuous to #8). But it was hot until sunset and heated up quickly at sunrise. Gorgeous sunset and night of big stars, though, and total quiet. We checked out the second loop on our way out the next morning, and none of them (sites #37 and up) were level or large enough for even our small van. Utilized van's low gears getting back down, for sure, but no issues. The place is well worth the detour from Las Cruces, even if you are just traveling through. We had good Verizon.

Liked this place a lot! Most sites are uneven. Please note that this is not just a campground. Spots are also used by day use folks. Get here before the weekend. Water is at the host station 4 miles before the campground. The spigot is more than 25 feet away from your rig, so plan accordingly. We had a spare hose, connected the two and filled up before going to the campground. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was crowded, but many around us were there for the day and cleared out by 7-8 pm when the park closes. It got really quiet! You can leave at any time, but can only enter after 7 am. There are tire shredders at the gate. This is a one way, one lane and winding road so changing your mind to return to a campsite might make you complete the loop a second time unless you are in a nimble vehicle. There are trash cans as well as a concrete pad with sun shelter at each site. Pay via envelope cash or check only. We saw rangers come through regularly. Pit toilets were available and were also clean. We have a 20 ft teardrop pulled by a Tacoma. A couple of the dips as well as the tight turns while parking would be a challenge for bigger rigs. Would return! (The critters are now active as we saw a tarantula and a rattle snake while hiking Pine Tree trail.)

For a BLM it has quite the amenities, picnic tables, water (at Host station, 4 miles before entering campground), restrooms-pit toilets, fire rings and nearby hiking trails.
My site (17) has the best view on the loop, in my opinion and is in close distance to the restroom. There is plenty of space between each site and it is very quiet here (even with a full campground).
The weather is nice and I got great cell coverage with T-mobile. This is my go to spot for BLM here in southern New Mexico!
p.s. This is my second stay and I will keep coming back to be surrounded by God’s perfect nature.

My wife and I camped here in our sprinter van after visiting White Sands National Park en route to Las Crusces the following day. The campsites were plentiful. We loved our site which was a short walk from the bathrooms, included a fire ring, covered picnic bench, and had fantastic views of the Organ Mountains–Desert Peaks National Monument. Multiple trailheads right out of the campground. Saw wild deer and a fox. Water fill up near the entrance off 70. Very quiet at night and morning. Inexpensive fee to camp for such a magical place. One of our favorite campgrounds in the southwest and highly recommended!

We loved our stay in this little campground and would say it’s probably one of our top 10 overall!
We stayed to do both the hikes which are accessible from the campground, work and enjoy the views.
The first loop you come to has the larger sites. We walked through the second (lower) loop and sites are only big enough for a van or car. Sites are unlevel and on old pavement so we couldn’t dig down to level. We had to berm up a little ramp since we didn’t even have enough levelers. The first loop had a few sites that would accommodate a small trailer. I’m glad we had our van as there would definitely not been anywhere for our 30’ trailer. The largest trailer we saw was probably about 24’.
Each site has a shade structure, picnic table, fire pit and grill which were is good condition. Most sites even had a garbage bin in them. Plenty of pit toilets scattered throughout.
Verizon was the most reliable at about 10 down/5 up unboosted consistently. AT&T and T-Mobile not reliable enough to work from. Sometimes they had fair signal (4 down/2up) but would often have no signal at all.

Beautiful views, sunrises, nicely dispersed sites, away from the highway and tucked into the Organ Mts. And two trailheads right there. All for $7! Love it.

I really love this campsite- nestled away in the Organ Mts, great trailheads right there, beautiful views and sunrises. And just $7. The sites are pretty well dispersed and usually have some privacy, at least the outer sites.

We’ve driven through Aguirre Spring campground before, this was our first overnighter. The views are spectacular, and the whole area is beautiful. The upper loop (“A”) may have somewhat more expansive views, but the lower loop (“B”) is definitely quieter. Sites 17 & 18 may have the widest views of all. We started with site 18, but nearby large & noisy families drove us down to site 33, and it was so much more peaceful. Water access was not a problem: thanks to previous reviewers for clueing us in. It’s at the host site, 4 miles before you get to the actual camping sites, and you’ll need something like a 40’-50’ hose to reach the bib, be aware. Also note, the sites are not very level. We used all our leveling blocks and managed to reduce the slope to 3-4 degrees — not so bad we couldn’t sleep, but your mileage may vary. The peacefulness, and the butterflies, hummingbirds, lizards, and frogs, made it well worth the effort.
