It would have been perfectly quiet but a neighbor ran their generator alllllllll night. Beautiful views. Small lot, few level sites. Free and easy access.

I did find a spot against the fence but as soon as we got out of the truck the dog was limping. He had stickers in all 4 paws. Upon inspecting the ground there are goat head puncture vine stickers everywhere. Had them all over the soles of my shoes. Absolutely don’t recommend this site if you have a dog, and really only recommend it if you’re gonna go hiking since it is a trail head.

Small parking lot at the trailhead. There was 1 big rig (us) and 4 van/cars. Sand storm came and we lost visability.

Finding a level spot was a little tricky but we are also newbs. I wouldn't call it the most dispersed camping, other vehicles are definitely near you but it's nice. Would stay again

This is a small parking lot at the start of a trailhead. We arrived on a Tuesday evening and it was crowded. We jimmied a spot by the middle fence area with our 31 foot class c (after detaching our tow vehicle). We picked this spot to be only 30 min from the White Sands National Park- which was well worth it!! This National Park is one of our top finds as a full time traveling RV family! We can’t wait for more boondocking /camping spots to come available at the White Sands Park.
We had great cell service and felt pretty safe for the 2 nights we stayed here at the trail head. I don’t have pictures of the parking lot but I have some of the White Sands Park - it’s a must go and this trailhead is a great boondocking spot close by.

A little busy with locals hiking. Overall a good spot. About 50 miles to White Sands NP. I would highly recommend a visit and hike at Dripping Springs National Area. Be sure to hike to the springs, Van Patten Mountain Camp and Boyd’s Sanatorium. Just down the road about 5 miles. A fee area!

Easy access to alas Cruces, and right off the highway.

Really nice view of the mountains, driving distance to grocery stores & white sands. At the trailhead, would recommend going early to get a spot.

We need some place to stay that was close (enough) to White Sands National Park; there are a number of free camp sites just outside Las Cruces but this one seemed to have the most positive reviews.
It’s not a bad place to stop for the night, but just know that it will be difficult to find a level spot. It was also a little difficult to maneuver when there are already other cars parked in random spots. Recommend taking the first entrance in (coming from the west), circling around to the other side of the lot and pulling along side the center grove area (point toward the exit)... again, not level but you can adjust enough to make it through for the night.
Very fast AT&T and Verizon (between 40-50mbps down and 7-11mbps up on both).

We planned on staying one night here then head to white sands which is about 40 miles away. But then decided to go back for one more night. 1st night (Saturday) there was campers around but it was lights out basically around 10 pm. Sunday morning there was plenty of people due to the hiking trails. But all went smooth. Sunday night there was less people till around 10pm then lots of people arriving all thru the night and it got pretty windy as well. All in all, a good site. Not exactly flat but I like that a paved roads leads you to the site. I recommend this place when traveling near las cruces and white sands/Alamogordo.
