The previous review no good, they are doing something near the water tanks and construction equipment is everywhere, etc. if there is one RV in the one space along the one lane there there is NOWHERE to turn around so that’s why the low stars. There is a gravel lot at the turn off from pavement would be alright for an overnight but it’s the beginning on the great western where atvs load.
I’d recommend Beaus Flat down the road also on camp pendium. PLENTY off spaces. Million dollar views.

We came through during an intense windstorm and needed a place to spend the night. The road in is bumpy, but not long, so going slow is no problem. There were several campers along the road, so we went to the end near the water tank. The bluff west of us provided somewhat of a windbreak, and we had no trouble leveling our 20' trailer without unhooking. This is an ATV area, and several drove past during the evening, but the night was quiet. To get here, turn right at 520 West, just before the Sand Creek RV Park, then follow the road until you take a left turn with a kiosk, Forest Road 146. It's a short, somewhat bumpy drive from there to several pullouts.

We stayed her while working for the week. It's beautifully set just below the red rocks and the outskirts of town on Fishlake US Forest reserve. There's lots of ATV trails in the park, which you can hike on, but beware they're pretty dusty. Otherwise, it's a gorgeous setting. It's about a 15-20 minute drive to Capitol Reef NP visitors center. There's a small convenience store with a pretty good selection of essentials in Torrey. But for a larger selection you have to drive 18 mi to Lao.
The road is pretty dusty in the summer due to the dryness and also ATV use of the road. The sites are throughout but the ones closer to town have better cell reception.

There are only a couple spots along this gravel road that is part of the Great Western Trail. We found the set-up easy, the locals friendly and the views spectacular. Some great recreation opportunities right out the door and with-in striking distance to Capitol Reef NP (20-30 min). ATT mobile service was good without a booster. If you set-up here in the fall, keep in mind some big storms can roll through here. We got blasted with snow for a couple days in October.
