Picacho Peak is the most iconic landmark between Phoenix and Tucson from I-10, so worth the stop for overnighters and day hikers. We love to stay here during the Spring season with all the Mexican goldpoppies all around the base of the peak. Plenty of saguaros around and plenty of great hiking trails for the beginner to the advanced. The campgrounds only provides electric, NO water, and there's a dump station. So, bring plenty of water with you as sometimes the wells are dry here and can't resupply your tanks. The only drawback, if you're tent camping, is the interstate traffic close by and very busy railroad. The views definitely drown out the noise and this is a wonderful park to stay for a few days.

Otherwise, great place. At the foot of Picachu Mtn, great views north and east across miles of desert scrub, I-10 and lots and lots of iconic Saguaro cactus. Sites are large so do not feel crowded, and while access to I-10 is easy and close, it is very quiet. Pretty much anything from tents to the larger class A's fit comfortably. Flies were a bit of a bother, but hey, this is camping and the sunset/sunrises are stellar.

Nice place. No water hookups. Campsites are spaced apart adequately so no one is really on top of each other. Can hear interstate 10 which is a little unfortunate. I would recommend selecting a site that’s on the outside of the loops which provide great views. Overall this it’s a nice park.

The only thing I can add to the previous reviews is that there's no water hook-ups, Period. They claim on-line there's a 'water shortage' but they seemed to have removed all the water spigots from the sites. The showers and bathroom work just fine.

There isn't a lot to do in the immediate area, but there are a couple of nice hikes in the park. The Saguaro National Park is an easy drive, but groceries/laundry are 30 minutes away.
All sites have picnic tables and fire pits - some have ramadas for shade. When it comes to utilities, each site has electric. There is no sewer at the site, but there is dump station. The big bummer is their water situation. As of this writing, the website says there is a water shortage and to come with full tanks. The reality is water will no longer be provided and all water at the sites have been removed. However, the showers in the restrooms still work.
For cell coverage, Verizon worked better (79.8 Dn / 6.8 Up) then AT&T (45.3 Dn / 15.3 Up). Wifi antennas are spaced throughout the park and is available for a fee.
Overall, this is a very nice park for a couple for a couple of days. Without water at the site, it will limit some smaller rigs from staying longer. Also, depending on the location of your site, noise can be heard in the distance from cars on Interstate 10 and the train track adjacent to it.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this park. The surrounding area is pretty desolate so I wasn't expecting much. And I feared that its proximity to the I-10 might make it noisy. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the park was. The only real downside was a water shortage at the time, so electric was the only hookup available. Of course, they still charge the same price as if they had water which was mildly disappointing. The sites were in good shape, paved but the pavement was pretty old. Picnic tables and firepits were close to every site. Some sites had a covered area for the picnic table. The dump station was close by and convenient to use.
There are two travel plazas close by for gas and basic supplies. DQ for fast food/ice cream.

I hiked a couple of them and they offered amazing views for sure. You can hear noise from the interstate pretty much all the time and you have to pay to use the internet and the speeds are not the best. Other than that it was spectacular. Would certainly camp here again.

We have a 40 ft fifth wheel with a Ford F-350. Requested a pull through site, the site was a little tricky to get the truck situated so we could easily hook back up, but it was definately with the extra couple of minutes! Views in daytime are beautiful and the stars are the most we have seen in a long time. Although we were only there 1 night, we managed to get in 3 hikes!
Back in sites are double the width of a typical site and would have been super easy to get into!
There was a water shortage while we were there, so no filling up the fresh water tank, but we had enough to get us through night....rest room facilities were very clean.
Although camp sites were near I-10, we didn’t notice any traffic noise....maybe because we were behind the black rock.

Wonderful location to take an overnight or longer. Close to highway, but landscape and view compensates. Sites nicely spaced, paved and mostly level. Make sure to bring plenty of water.
