Has anyone stayed here as a solo female traveler? Any red flags?

Once inside the gate there's really only 3 spots, only 1 can realistically maneuver a trailer into. My truck alone took a beating from the washed out road and all the cacti/trees scratching it up. The largest spot is occupied by water troughs and cows, which means flies and cow pies. If you were to get in, the views are great, its right at the top of a pass, has lush vegetation, and in a 'dark sky' area.

There is a really nice spot against rocks about a half-mile in which would accommodate a larger set-up, it was taken when we were there. Further up is perfect for tents and vans. There are two prime spots - on either side of rocks for privacy, but we were the only ones there camping for our whole stay. A few hikers came in on the weekend - and the hiking is great! - but didn’t see anyone else.
Good Verizon coverage. Great night skies and relatively quiet, you can hear the odd truck on the main road, but that road isn’t very busy.

Worth the 10 mile drive off the I-10 freeway. Paved road all the way and actually in way better shape than I-10. We are just boondoucking our way from TX to CA so this is a nice break from Walmart & rest areas.

As other’s have said, don’t bring a big rig into this area, it could end up being a problem with damage or maneuvering around. Our 24 foot fit nicely into a camp spot. Very scenic with the rocks and the landscape views. Just open the gate and be sure to close it as there are cattle in this area at the time we were here.

Yes there’s a gate. Yes it’s unlocked. Yes close it behind you. Yes you might get some desert pinstripes on your rig. Do not bring big rigs. We are 23’ and I wouldn’t bring anything bigger. Saw one border patrol truck come through no big deal. Great hikes and views too.

It was a very peaceful night, there was very little traffic on Hwy 80. Had a beautiful view of the desert in the morning. I would definitely stay there again. (If you miss the pullout, continue into the valley a few miles and you will come to a ranch entrance with a large area to turn around. )
