“So far so good been set up for an hour or so”

Reviewed Feb 08, 2019

Overall Rating

Worth the 10 mile drive off the I-10 freeway. Paved road all the way and actually in way better shape than I-10. We are just boondoucking our way from TX to CA so this is a nice break from Walmart & rest areas.

“Quiet”

Reviewed Feb 02, 2019

Overall Rating

As other’s have said, don’t bring a big rig into this area, it could end up being a problem with damage or maneuvering around. Our 24 foot fit nicely into a camp spot. Very scenic with the rocks and the landscape views. Just open the gate and be sure to close it as there are cattle in this area at the time we were here.

“Desert delight”

Reviewed Jan 30, 2019

Overall Rating

Yes there’s a gate. Yes it’s unlocked. Yes close it behind you. Yes you might get some desert pinstripes on your rig. Do not bring big rigs. We are 23’ and I wouldn’t bring anything bigger. But once you get here. You won’t complain. Surrounded by desert greenery shared with some free range cattle. No complains at all. Dark at night. Qu... more

“Excellent overnight location”

Reviewed Nov 26, 2017

Overall Rating

I stopped overnight at the pullout on Hwy 80, on Nov 10, 2017. Lat/Long 32.0889,-108.9730. I did not go through any gates or down any dirt roads as the previous reviewer did. I was the only one there, but I was careful to park as far to the side as possible, so that another rig could pass me if necessary. It was a very peaceful night, ... more

“Good for small rigs, lots of open desert”

Reviewed Feb 26, 2015

Overall Rating

If solitude is your thing, Granite Gap provides... although only for smaller rigs. I towed in a fiberglass trailer and found a few areas large enough for my van and the trailer, but the weeds scratched both sides as I drove down the dirt road. Certainly walk in first to ensure you can fit and be sure to close the gate behind you as you... more

A planned stop before returning to Arizona, Granite Gap is only 11 miles south off the Interstate on Hwy 80. It is BLM land that I had heard of before as a great boondocking area, and Verizon...
