The turn off is a dirt road off Utah 24 on the hill just after Torrey when heading towards Capitol Reef. Look for the sign labeled "1280 East." This is a nice site with plenty of room and easy roads. The only downside is the broken glass and rusted cans from past dumping at the site. Make sure you watch your step and monitor any kids or pets.
It was great being close to the park and the gas station/Subway just down the road in Torrey is clean with friendly workers.
T-Mobile was slow despite 4g and full bars (a simple 5mb download took ~20 minutes).

The road in was graded and much easier to navigate than the nearby Capitol reef overflow lot, and much less crowded. We got a nice big site for our 37 foot fifth wheel with amazing views in the day, stars galore at night, and lots of rocks for the kids to climb on. Cell coverage was occasionally usable with the booster but not consistent. Close to Capitol Reef and Torrey. However, on our last day here we were awakened by a knock on the door and asked to move. Apparently the land had been sold to a nearby hotel. They didn’t enforce it daily as we were there 3 1/2 days. But he did say we could drive a bit father down the road past the cattle guard and we would be fine. There were a few sites past the cattle guard, but they did not have as much space or as nice of a view. Some could still accommodate a large rig. There was an apparently abanded quarry farther down the road that allowed room to turn around if needed.

“Great location but lots of glass”

We decided not to camp here because of all the broken glass. Had the feel of a dump site. However, it is very close to Torrey and right off the main road, so if you don’t mind the debris, it is a good choice.

Stayed here one day/night. The dirt road is easy to find and navigate. Not too rough. You quickly notice that the sides of the road are covered in shattered glass. The glass isn't as bad near the campsites but still enough that I wouldn't walk barefoot or let a dog wander around. I didn't worry about my tires. You will see there are a few spots spread out. Some have fire rings. We took a large spot right beneath a large rock. We had no problem maneuvering our 30" travel trailer. From the top of the rock there are incredible views. You are close to the highway but we couldn't hear it. Despite the glass it really was a beautiful spot. It's close to "downtown" Torrey and Capitol Reef National Park.
Cell coverage was bad. We had a few bars of Verizon extended but it barely worked even with a booster. T-Mobile read full LTE but was still unusably slow. This is the case all over Torrey, UT.

We checked this place out because of proximity to Capitol Reef National Park. It's a quick turn off the main road onto a gravel road. When you first turn onto the road there are a lot of no trespassing signs. continue on and you will see a couple spots to the left and right. They are all right along the road. When you pass the cow grades there are more spots but they are not that level and still right against the road. If you continue on there is an active rock quarry. That pretty much is the end and there is enough room to turn around there. There is ZERO Verizon data service and maybe 3 bars to make calls and text. It was a little more private than the overflow but we felt uncomfortable so we left.

Our trailer is 28 feet with low clearance so we didn't venture too far down the dirt road. But we managed to have a great area away from others with no noise issues at all. There's nothing special in particular about this spot but it's only a few minutes from the park and a minute to Torrey for snacks.

This BLM site is less than 5 miles from Capital Reef National Park and only about 1/2 mile outside the town of Torrey. The road had been recently graded at the time of our visit and large rigs should be able to access many of the sites (exercise caution). However, looks like the road will be slick when wet, and if you venture off the graded road some areas appear soft. To reach the majority of the sites, cross the cattle guard and turn right down the hill.
There are great views and it's very quiet here. The town of Torrey has several restaurants, and Austin's Chuck Wagon Hotel has a small laundromat, deli and grocery. AT&T coverage had great upload/download speeds. Verizon is adequate to make phone calls.
We'll be back!
