The area is not huge but there are lots of spots to park for all size rigs. It was quiet every night no matter the number of rigs. It did get windy every day we were there. We were parked on a mostly level spot closer to the road then the rocks. We were able to stream Netflix while connected to our Verizon Hotspot.
Highly recommend the pie at the Gifford House just off Scenic Drive in the park. $6.50 for mini size pies. Nice shaded grass park nearby the Gifford House for picnics.

Our kids loved climbing on all the big rocks and there was a trail that left right from our campsite to the top of the mesa. It had wonderful views of the whole area.
Every night the place filled with tents and vans as well as some bigger rigs, but it started quiet and emptied out pretty early. It is a great hub to explore the nearby area, as it's only a few minutes from Capitol Reef and from Torrey. You can fill water (free) and dump (for $5) in the park's campground nearby. And don't forget to check out the night sky - it was incredible!

This place is great. Wide open easy access. Great cell service, t- mobile.
The park was full but offered nothing other than shade and full bathrooms, no hook-ups and no cell service. This would be our first choice.

This is right off of State Highway 24 so you will have some road noise. Though there are sites that are more protected if you find one open.
It was perfect for us as we needed a spot just for the night.

Every site has a view of something pretty. We had good cell signal on both T-Mobile and Verizon, and were even able to stream shows on Verizon. I can see why this camping area is very popular. We arrived at 2 pm on a Tuesday and about 1/4 to 1/3 of the sites were still available, but by evening it was pretty full. But there were sites available each night we stayed, so chances of getting a spot are good, especially if you arrive early. There are lots of sites tucked back into corners, so get out and scout a little bit before picking your spot.
There are a couple of trailheads accessible from the camping area. If you have the AllTrails app you can get more information about them. We hiked up the Cooks Mesa trail and the panoramic views are really stunning from the top of the mesa (altho it is a strenuous hike for the first 1/2 mile up the mesa, including some rock scrambles).
A dump station is available at the Fruita campground inside the park about 6 miles away. Potable water is also available there too. There are two potable water spigots, one unthreaded near the curb and one threaded spigot set back about 20 feet. We were able to attach our 25’ hose easily to the spigot faucet so we could measure how many gallons we were adding. Excellent water pressure out of that one!

Capitol Reef is such a hidden gem of a park; in any other state, I'm sure it'd get tremendous press, but it's routinely overshadowed by Arches, Zion, and Canyonlands. It's a truly special place. The valley itself, especially in the fall while we were there, is bursting with beautiful colors and life. Deer abound in the park.
The historicity of the park and its Mormon pioneers really stands out. You'll notice the orchards as you drive through the park, and if you're lucky, they'll let you pick some of the heirloom fruit! And of course the magnificent natural bridges, the domes, the towering canyons, and the pockmarked rocks that hide unique geological history within....this corner of the world feels like a desert paradise.
There are plenty of spots at this campground, probably 15-20, with more spots for tent camping. The road is a bit rutted on the way in, but go slow and you shouldn't have a problem, even with 2WD (provided the weather has been dry). There aren't any big washes or dips, it's just pretty rocky and the initial drop from the highway is a bit steep. But we were able to make it in our 40' fifth wheel without scratching anything (I think!).
This spot is a little bit more crowded than many BLM sites that are a bit more dispersed. Most spots aren't particularly level, you are camping essentially on the side of a hill. We found a good "pull-through" spot and didn't have any trouble leveling, but I noticed some larger Class As had some trouble with the slope (in what was maybe a questionable location anyways?).

Great cell signal for remote work without a booster, fantastic views and hiking access from your campsite. Close to Capital Reef for exploration. We had two days with some pretty gusty winds and only put out our awnings one night for a few hours. Overall great spot, but red sand will get everywhere. 😬
