Not for the novice backer. There had been floods in the area so parts of campground were closed this made docking the land yacht more of an adventure. Once in it was like we had the whole campground to ourselves. Fishing off the bank was good for at the boat dock across the road.

We really liked this campground. Unlike some campgrounds, the sites aren't right on top of each other, so you have plenty of privacy. Only a few of the sites have lake views, and at that they are really only peekaboo views, but there are trails to the lake, and there is a great picnic area and formal boat launch adjacent to the campground. There are also two small docks in the campground for tying up small watercraft.
The amenities are few, with a fire ring and table at each site, plus a nearby pit toilet and water spigot. But, if you want to be in the heart of Voyageur country, this is a great camping spot. And our cellphones had signal, which is so rare when camping.

I pulled in late on a Tuesday in late September and only a handful of campers.I snagged a lakeside spot just through the forest from the boat launch. Awesome place to paddle for hours right from camp. It was total serenity until Friday night. Then the glampers arrived and there was enough noise (an outdoor TV blaring as if the whole park wanted to listen in to a 1980's British drama. Nothing against the British, mate!) for me to put out the fire and head inside for the night. It quieted back down by Sunday evening. Wonderful fall colors and a great place to see the Northern Lights. Loved it here!
Note: water is turned off this time of year. So no amenities other than pit toilets and a dumpster at the entrance to the campground.

Awesome campground. 19 feet camper fit just fine in the campsite. Plenty of empty sites. Excellent cell for Verizon. Great place for day trips in the area.

We had planned on staying at Woodenfrog. Last minute, we changed our plans but did get a chance to drive through the campground.
This campground has very small sites on grass/dirt. Lots of low hanging limbs and bushes. Road is one way gravel and narrow.
There are a couple of open sites that would be large enough for a small trailer. There is a very good chance of scratching the sides as the roads are overgrown on the sides.
Not to mention the 80+ degree weather and the the awful smoke from the fires in Canada.
Not the place for us.

The campground was quiet. There was a short hiking trail near the lake. The spots were fairly level but there's variability. Plenty of shade. Easy access to Voyageurs NP.

This is primitive camping, with no electricity and vault toilets. However the sites are well spaced in a forested area of rolling hills and is very quiet. For $17 per night and proximity to Voyageurs gets a definite 2 thumbs up!

I don’t know if we drove through a nest but we had bees swarm our van for the first 30 minutes we were there.
Once the bees chilled out it wasn’t so bad but the mosquitos are a bit much and we were close to the water compared to other sites.
Anyways the campground review, We arrived on a Tuesday at 4pm and about half of the 61 sites were open. There are 2 ada sites.
Sites are very private and large. there are a few close together if you were to have multiple parties you could easy go between sites.
Bathrooms are single vaulted toilets, there are 5 toilets throughout the park. The one by our site was pretty clean.
Low hanging trees in parts of the grounds could serve as obstacles for larger class A and fifth wheels.
Our pad at our site was pretty level only minimal level was necessary.

We stayed here in August and had such a great experience. It is a FCFS campground. We arrived on a Thursday and there were MANY spots open, but by the weekend they were ALL full. I can't remember our exact site number, but it backed to the forest and was enormous. Trees on all sides with forest in between sites; very private. I think as you drive further in, the sites get bigger. I am pretty sure our site was in the 50s. It wasn't super wide, but went very far back. Cell service was strong here, which was a pleasant surprise. The location is great, being right on the lake. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
