This is the most "run down" KOA we have stayed at. It wasn't bad at all though. The pool is a great thing to have access to when done with a day of exploring. We stayed in site 29, which has better tree (shade) coverage than most sites....
There isn't much shade unfortunately. The park is huge and the schoolhouse near the entrance is really cool to check out. The highlight of the trip was the splash pad though (great for kids and adults can run through every so often too).
The site are very large, clean, and well spaced. There is great access to a large trail system, some of them paved. It was quiet even with being at full capacity.
We stayed in a partial hookup site on the back of the A loop. The area is beautiful surrounding the campground, with good access to a 2.5 mile walking path to the Butteville General Store, which was closed due to the pandemic. The park was quiet...
