I was going to stay at Early Winters Campground, but a prescribed burn was being done in the area and I didn’t want to deal with any smoke. So I made my way farther west to Lone Fir. Camp area looked nice enough, only three sites taken. I decided on Site 7, then drove up to fill out my info and drop my money. Turns out the cost was $20, not $8 like described on here. But whatever… Parked at my site. What I discovered two hours later, is the site was infested with mice. And thankfully a couple of them made their way into my camper van.
So I type this update from a motel room in Twisp. I left the site, because there was no way I was sleeping in the van tonight, or at that campsite.
If you stay at this campground, spray some peppermint oil around your vehicle. I hear mice hate it.

Half are big enough for RVs and fifth wheels while the rest are great camper or tent sites. There are 4 sites right at the riverbank but you probably need to get there mid week to get one of those. We were able to get one of those and it was absolutely amazing!!
We had family and friends camping with us and we’re able to get 4 sites in a row which was very cool.
Mid week it is very quiet but it fills up fast on Friday.

We traveled from here to Montana and found all the NFS campgrounds were closed, in September. This surprised us and upset our plans, thinking that they wouldn't close until October.

This is a basic National Forest Service campground on the roadside of Highway 20 (North Cascade Highway). The main appeal to this campground is it's proximity to the Cascade range. When I visited, the campground was very clean and seemed well maintained. Perhaps because it had just been opened for the season. The literature says the campground opens in July. This year, it was open in early June. The sites are generously sized, with fire pits and picnic tables in most sites. Some sites are pull through, but most are back in.
There are no hook-ups (unless you're the camp host), but there are numerous water spigots and vault toilets around the site. There's no sewage dump. There was some noise from highway 20 but it wasn't unbearable. The most noise came from the creek which runs adjacent to the camp ground. Also note that there is no cell service anywhere along the North Cascade Highway.
