“beautiful lakeside camping”

Reviewed Sep 28, 2016

Overall Rating

Small forest service campground along the edge of Leech Lake near the top of White Pass. 7 wooded campsites, all lake side, and most with a good amount of privacy. Very nice picnic tables + fire pits, clean pit toilets, and garbage dumpsters on your way out. Great spot for Tent campers, and a few of the spots are level enough to accommodate small RVs <24'.

Pacific Crest Trail crosses through here, offering an entry point to many day-hikes in the area. The hike up to Deer + Sand lakes is definitely worth it.

Leech lake allows fly fishing only, and no motorized boats.

Couldn't get anything but 1x on Verizon, even with booster. Slight road noise from Highway 12.

“Lovely Lakeside Location ”

Reviewed Sep 15, 2015

Overall Rating

This tiny campground is perfectly located on the shore of Leech Lake, directly opposite the White Pass Ski Area. The scenery more than makes up for the little bit of road noise which is practically non-existent at night.

The sites are recommended for vehicles with a maximum length of 20 feet but we fit our 22 foot van in easily. All sites appeared to be lakeside.

This campground is also a trailhead (with separate parking) for the Pacific Crest Trail. We hiked a nice stretch of it to Sand Lake. Leech Lake is just a mile or two west of the giant Rimrock Lake, and there are several cafes/stores and gas stations in the area. In warmer weather it looked like a fun little lake for a paddle board, canoe or kayak. Right now it is bow season, so be prepared to share the facilities with hunters.

Amazingly great 4G internet coverage.
