“Small, quiet campground”

Lots of tall mature trees for shade. We arrived after major rains and flooding so not sure if the area always has this many mosquitos. Never did see any alligator but did see a turtle, snake, raccoon, owls and other birds. If you hear something that sounds like sheep in the water, I think they're frogs. Not sure though. Lots of tall mature trees for shade. We arrived after major rains and flooding so not sure if the area always has this many mosquitos. Never did see any alligator but did see a turtle, snake, raccoon, owls and other birds. If you hear something that sounds like sheep in the water, I think they're frogs. Not sure though. If using the showers, make sure to head over before it gets dark and the thousands of flying insects come out.
I use a t-mobile hotspot, work remotely full time and had decent speed most of the time.

Check-in was just a drive by, told the nice lady what site we had reserved and drove right in. 2-4 bars of AT&T service and 4 HDTV channels including NBC. Sites 1-3 are right on the river, the rest are a close to the river. Only a few camper here in March, most were fishers with boats. Bathrooms, dump station and garbage cans are ad... more
Check-in was just a drive by, told the nice lady what site we had reserved and drove right in. 2-4 bars of AT&T service and 4 HDTV channels including NBC. Sites 1-3 are right on the river, the rest are a close to the river. Only a few camper here in March, most were fishers with boats. Bathrooms, dump station and garbage cans are adequate. Power and water worked well. Signs say there are alligators in the river, but we didn't see any. Trail entrance to white cliffs overlook is behind the dump station, only 1/4 mile to the cliffs. There is a small parking lot off the road (Rte 317) just before entering the park. There you will find an overlook of the river, if you walk across the road, the blue trail starts there and is a 2 mile loop. Not near any town, Nashville, AR and Ashdown, AR are both 20 miles away.

We enjoyed our stay at White Cliffs public use campground. The landscape was really beautiful and the river was really peaceful. Surprisingly it was pretty packed all week. We enjoyed our stay at White Cliffs public use campground. The landscape was really beautiful and the river was really peaceful. Surprisingly it was pretty packed all week. Lots of fishers and folks camping out to fish. We wouldn’t choose this particular spot (#11) again as there is a pull through spot adjacent to it so you’re kind of looking at your neighbors activities all days 😂 but if you’re staying as a group it could be fun. I believe all the hooks up don’t have sewer, and the bathrooms were pretty meh. Very “public use” like, but it wasn’t unbearable. Just very old and a bit dingy.
The hosts were lovely! Dolores was wonderful and kind. The park was very quiet at night, but there’s a lot of boat and chainsaw activity during the day. We found out that this park allows you to cut your own firewood from felled trees. So there were several folks out who just came for the firewood (our neighbor literally cut about 100 pieces). It was really nice for us because we just got to pick what we wanted. So bring a saw and get yourself some great firewood.
Cell service (ATT and Verizon) were really not great in the campgrounds. But if you go up the to the cliff overlook you’ll get great service.
Overall, we’d stay here again. Just maybe not for as long.

Overall Rating
This is a hidden gem in Arkansas. With a beautiful overlook right before entering the campground, to clean facilities it is a nice place to spend time.
