Webster Park Campground

Convenient to Rochester and a lovely area. The campground was a combination of good and not-so-good sites. The manager who came around as we were considering our assigned spot (18) gave us some other vacancies to move to. None were especially level, and water was some distance away. Where we settled had some small trash on ground and a very dirty old picnic table but was totally private with surrounding trees. No Verizon signal there, but could catch a signal if we walked to front of campground or up road toward Lake Ontario. Beautiful entrance to park and surrounding area. Campground's just a little rough for such a gem of a setting. In retrospect, I'd have taken one of the less private spots at the very front for the phone signal and clean appearance. Can't report on showers, we didn't use them.

spent two nights here - not a lot to report other than its a nice little campground. no frills, no store, no sewer hook up (dumpsite on the way out) couldn't figure out how to access the water for rinsing, no pull throughs.

Nice place though, lots of families & local to Rochester campers. Stayed here to be close to my daughter and new grand-baby that lives nearby.

We end up staying here during most of our trips to Rochester, NY, as it's the closest to the city - which is really quite barren of other options.

Sites vary in spacing, with most on the loop having some decent privacy (not all). They can get muddy when it rains - and tend to stay that way for a bit. The sites on the loop have 15A/30A (a few 50A) and access (often needing a long length of hose) to a water spigot.

Sites 41 D,E,F,G,H all have 15A/30A, but more direct access to water. These sites are long, but are closer together than most of those on the loop. These sites are the most big-rig friendly, as they don't involve driving the loop, which tends to have low hanging branches and a few tight turns (it's doable - but not fun).

This is a lovely park, littered with deer, trees, green grass, and tons of trails. On weekdays, it's awesomely quiet. Weekends tend to be loud with locals camping; we were treated to the sweet sweet sounds of amped guitars on more than one evening until 2 a.m. Quiet hours are not enforced. The locals (both campers and park day visitors) are really not into cleaning up their dog's droppings either - so do watch where you step.

Cellular signal here sucks on Verizon and AT&T. Like, seriously - it sucks. 1 bar of Verizon if you're lucky. A cellular booster or MIMO will help you pull in a semi-usable signal. We were able to jump on a cell and utilize our Starlink system placed upon our rig's roof in both site 30 and site 41G (41G was much better - no dropouts).

If you're a big rig (or any rig over 11') - don't come via Bay Road to Lake Road. You'll need to take Holt to Lake and enter from the East.

We camp here a lot because we live close by. It's nice that it's quiet and easy in and out. Lots of dogs come here so if you have a dog that doesn't like other dogs this isn't the spot for you. The sites are spaced well and have privacy between almost all of them. When you look at the map the sites 1 thru 19 are higher and drier but grassy. The sites 21 thru 31 on the outside of the loop are wetter so if it rains those will be swampier. Inside of the loop is good all the way around but smaller. Pop ups and tents mostly here. Sites 33 thru 36 are pretty close together with limited privacy but it's under nice pines so it's a shady and nice woodsy feel. All the rest are outside on the road or near the only street light which is very bright at the office. Water is mostly available at every site with some needing 50 feet of hose to reach but you can leave it hooked 24/7 while you're there. Great mountain biking trails through park to whiting road. Hiking is excellent and birding is great too with many species everywhere. If you are from Monroe County it's 30 per night for up to 26ft and 40 for out of town. 10 more for 26 plus campers. Couple sites have 50amp but all have 20 and 30.

We chose this Park because of it’s proximity to Rochester, and it’s proximity to Lake Ontario. We arrived after a major rainstorm, so our site was both a bit soft and a bit muddy but not too bad.
The full-time camp host asked what we would like in terms of privacy and access to the restrooms, and I said we would like both. He put us in site #24, which indeed had both – but with a surprise. The shower house has a full-time ventilator system, which is very noisy and points right toward sites 22 and 24. On the opposite side of the restrooms, the noise is inaudible.
Overall, a pleasant and satisfactory experience – but I would choose a different site next time.

Webster Park is lovely, quiet - and very overpriced.

What do you get for your $$?

A lovely, very quiet - especially at night - setting, and (mostly) private camping sites. There are a few sites near the front of the campground (we stay here because these sites are level and very big-rig accessible) that have little privacy, but many of the sites in 'the loop' are pretty secluded and surrounded by lush foliage.

You get a 20/30/50A power pedestal - although you'll need to be choosey if you want 50A as there is not a 50A option at all pedestals.

You'll get a janky water hook-up situation. Most of the sites have a shared water hook-up near the front of the site (road), where the power pedestal is near the back. May be worthwhile to bring extra hose. Technically, you are not supposed to stay hooked-up to water, but the park hosts don't seem to enforce this.

You'll get flushing toilets and free showers - both of which were filthy, but usable during our visit.

You'll get access to a campground playground, open fields surrounding the campground, and miles of trails to meander along throughout the decently large County Park. Seriously - the trails are awesome and connect to multiple other nature preserves in the area.

You'll get to drive to a dump station to release the demons of your black/grey tanks if you roll with such tanks.

There is a full-time camp host as well.

The park is clean. There are garbage cans/containers in the campground (although the rest of the park is carry-in / carry-out).

The setting really is lovely. There is very little traffic noise - and no train noise. Locals do enjoy being in this park, so there are some nights that are filled with the sounds of locals blasting music. $50/night (for a large rig and out of county fee) for electric and maybe water is really really exorbitant, however.

Webster Park is also a bit off the 'beaten path'. You'll need a vehicle to access grocery stores or entertainment other than the park. A bicycle might do as well, but the local roads don't have much of a shoulder.

Our Verizon coverage bounced between 3G/Extended LTE while we were in the park. With a MIMO antenna set-up, we were able to pull in ~6mbps down inconsistently - network management was definitely happening at some points in the day. AT&T was a bit better, but also required enhancement - we used a booster for AT&T and were able to pull in 8mbps down.
