We stopped here chasing the 2024 eclipse. Easy to find. No cost. About 20 parking spaces, a vault toilet, and a boat launch. Open for solar panels, but tree cover around the lot. Only about 5 parking spaces are not on a slant. Places in the trees for tents. Absolutely beautiful views up and down the river. A single fire pit on the river’s edge. No road noise to speak of because it is way in the distance and rare at night. Fireflies and owls into the night. Mist on the water in the morning: just beautiful. T mobile service has 3 of 4 bars. There is no apparent Verizon service.

There is not much shade. I pulled up in the day time to be under the tree. You are not suppose to swim from the boat launch area, but you can get down to the water (look for some pathways).
My first night was great. My second night, (I am not one to be so frightened of noises in the night) I think I heard someone creeping around my Jeep. Since Verizon is sketchy here, and I am alone with my small dog, we left.
I do recommend this place if you are not alone. It is pretty remote and you probably will be the only one in the immediate area.

I read the last review and wanted a site within a few hours of St. Louis. Amazing. There are 2 designated sites that I can see in a small loop. Bathroom that I haven't checked yet, but the outside is well kept. You could bring a larger trailer, especially in the site down close to the water.r that site is more level as well. Bathroom that I haven't checked yet, but the outside is well kept. You could bring a larger trailer, especially in the site down close to the water.r that site is more level as well. The site i stayed at is a bit uneven, but some boaters took the lower spot when we came. Oh well. Still amazing. Though there was a wasp nest forming in the fire pit. It's currently night and all I hear is nature LOUDLY. Btw, AT&T has a few bars and T-Mobile is 5G! Got to watch some shows before we went to bed.

This place had numerous places to stay. We chose a quiet area. It was tarred to the spot, but you could get to a more woodsy area. It had a fire pit and outhouse. We stayed right next to the lake and it had little walking trails that you could take to these little Bluffs that jet out next to the river. The croaking frogs and fireflies ... more
