We loved Snow Creek! This is misleading, because Chaonia resort has a campground. Then Snow Creek is ran by the Army Corp. Chaonia is just a bunch of parking spots right next to each other. Snow Creek has 9 sites. 1-4 are in the woods and 5-9 are directly on the water.9 is the best at the end. Lake on one side and woods on the other. I like them because you can park to where your rig is facing the water, not backed up to it. You can rent boats at Chaonia. You are limited to 14 days at snow creek but Chaonia has monthly rates. You pay your money at the pay box located by 3&4 campsite. Definately one to try out. You drive down the boat ramp parking lot and at the corner you can see a gravel road which leads to Snow Creek. We posted a video

We traveled from stl, about a 2 and a half hour drive to Chaonia Landing Marina. The campground direction are a little misleading as you drive down past the marina by the boat ramp and shower house (only 1 shower in both restrooms). You go up the gravel drive and the campsite is there. It is a honor system check-in and is only $10/night. There are very few campsites (I believe maybe 10), 1 faucet by honor box, and a fishing dock.
There are 5 lakefront sites but unfortunately basically right on top of one another. There was only 1 other camper on Friday night and then we were the only ones on Saturday night. Although it seemed like the sheriffs department did check in at least 1x a day, but could if been because the marina had some issues with somebody described as our neighboring campers the previous day.
It was nice and relaxing for what you paid and we rented the Bass Buggy from Chaonia Landing Marina on Saturday all day. Lake Wappapello is nice for fishing but not the cleanest of lakes to swim in, but it was refreshing to find a cove and jump in for a little bit. Unfortunately the lake gets really shallow so be prepared to not be into many coves unless you have a boat that can maneuver in shallow water of only 3ft or lower in certain areas. Also the employees at Chaonia Landing Marina are extremely nice!! Highly recommend renting from them.
We didn’t do very good fishing this weekend but these 5 campsite are right off the bank and can throw a line in from your site.
Only down side I’d say is a lot of random people coming down to fish at the dock and being right on top of each other, would of referred a cleaner shower house/bath house but hey you are primitive camping.
