We were checking out the river for fishing and so stopped by here. It's a large field with a few trees. There are lots of tall posts, which are something to do with horses, I guess. I only saw two picnic tables. There was one fire ring, which might have been for the camp host, if there were one. There were two sets of vault toilets, so a total of four. There was a nice access for the river. The only detriment seems to be slow cell service. Access is on a dirt road. Needless to say, it's much more quiet than Arbutus Lake.

This is a large campground without site numbers. There are tall posts everywhere for high ties to accommodate a large amount of horse camping. Right next to the Shore to Shore trail. A river runs next to it. Quiet place with vault toilets.
Self registration and first come first serve. 30 minutes from Traverse City.

This is a group area designed for use by equestrian campers riding the Shore-to-Shore Trail. Maximum capacity is 200 and the camp can accommodate tents and trailers. The Shore-to-Shore Trail is a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding, stretching east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails. The Michigan Trail Riders Association assists with maintenance of the trail. Visit the MTRA website to view maps or call 989-723-1425 for more information.
