Quiet location on a Sunday night with all sites open accept one. Level location for my tent. Close proximity to drinking water and clean pit toilets. Ample space to park. Picnic table and fire ring. Large dumpster for trash. Bring DEET spray!

We do a lot of State Forest camping and this was our first time here. It’s now on the favorites list! Quiet little lake. No real swimming area, but a dip at the launch area was just fine. Sandy bottom and enough to cool off and freshen up. Sites are nicely separated so you’re not overhearing your neighbors conversations. Not a lot of big rigs when we were there, so we didn’t have to deal with listening to generators, which is always a bonus. Tall, beautiful trees. The Sand Lake Quiet area path is a great hike, don’t miss out on that. Close enough to Torch Lake and Bellaire to take a ride to “town” for lunch if you are so inclined. Four stars because the vault toilets were not quite as clean as others we have been in. But, hey, how long are you really in there for? Bring your own drinking water or filter, as the pump water is a tad sandy. We loved it!

If you are looking for great outdoor recreation, and don't mind foregoing the amenities, this is a wonderful place. It's right on a beautiful lake, has miles and miles of trails, and lots of wildlife. The sites are big and roomy, and wooded in between so that the neighbors don't feel to close. No hookups or dump. You have to take a few dirt roads to get there, but nothing too bumpy. There was plenty of room for my 22 ft Class C, and we even saw a class A squeeze in! Beautiful spot.
