Our Class B had no problems on the gravel road, but we did arrive to a site that has been trashed the night before. We cleaned it up and settled in but heard a rowdy group pull up to a nearby site and blast music all night. The next morning as we left, their site was trashed so we can only assume they are frequent visitors.
Don’t be those people.
Arrive early for the best choices.
Good ATT and Verizon.

There is a staging area right before the gate that shuts the area down for winter. There was a Class C parked there for days. Great spot to drop a toad and go scout. We need solar so that limited our choices but a lot of great spots under the trees in the eastern part.
First two days were great. We parked in the first pull-off on the right next to a huge pine. We like to face east for morning sun in the windshield and for the best solar. There is very little traffic except a few logging trucks. Then the cows came for three days. Mooing at the crack of dawn and trying to jump the fence into a pasture they weren't supposed to be in.. They were getting stuck or a calf and mom would get separated. Here a cow, there a cow everywhere a cow cow... hundred head + calves. Then the owners came and rounded them up to be relocated.
Now we are back to peace. No services out here but cell service from all three is strong. ATT is 100 meg down / 40 up, T-mobile is 60 down / 25 up, Verizon (only have 4G) is poor at 6 / 1. This is unboosted.

We were thinking of spending the night in the parking area, but it was full of deer carcasses. Bummer.

After a long day of searching for a site around durango on a holiday with no luck, we found this place. There were a decent amount of established sites to choose from. We chose towards the end of the road. When we arrived there was a herd of cattle free ranging which was a nice surprise. We originally picked a secluded spot behind the clearing but moved to the site in clearing the next day because the sun was very hot in the am. It wasnt too crowded and it was quiet at night. During the day there is some ohv noise but not too often and it doesnt bother me. Most sites are really large, great for large groups. Plenty of firewood laying around if you have a saw with you. T-mobile service was almost perfect at the end of the road, pretty wild. I will def come back!

Great area, reasonably easy to access, and definitely quiet, at least in these chilly days of mid-October (it got down to 26F). There were a couple of fire rings but NO FIRES are allowed. There was an unoccupied 5th wheel on the opposite side of the road from where I parked, a smaller class A and a van in the more open area to the right as I drove in, but no people or trucks cruising by. The dog and I had a nice walk in the woods and discovered a designated bike trail a bit further in - the Horizon Loops. T-Mobile 10/2 and AT&T hotspot 14/0.5. I pinned my spot at 37.237088, -107.531235.

The views are beautiful. The time of year we were here (mid June) had tons of black flies. It made it hard to sit outside and they were biting our dogs nonstop.
The further you are up on the road are the less service that is available. We have Verizon and ATT. Verizon had nothing and ATT worked on the weekend, but during the week I couldn't even make phone calls without dropping them. We moved to a different spot and got decent internet and cell service through ATT and verizon.
Overall, I would stay here again, especially if I can get a handle on the bugs.

Camped 10/8/19 (Tue). After reading Campendium reviews and checking the area on satellite view, we planned our stop here and spots to camp at, but those spots were taken. We were a little apprehensive about traveling further back and being able to turn around with our camper (if we didn't find something), but it wasn't an issue. We found a great spot on Road 755A. GPS is 37.2371,-107.5476. Elevation 7050.
One reason for the apprehension was the deep drainage trenches on either side of the graded roads. Our site had a "driveway" in, and the trench was somewhat filled (we filled in more w/rocks & dirt). The site was very large, private, in the trees and had a fire ring of stones. It was level, hardly any trash, and the ground was dirt - actually more of a fine dust. There was an oil rig at the end of the side road along our site, but it wasn't operating. It was beautiful and quiet, but you could hear some Hwy 160 noise at times.
There's a gas station about 1 mile west of the Sauls Creek entrance road. We didn't notice any partying locals, but people came in with horse trailers, to unload & ride the area on their horses. Thankfully, we weren't there during hunting season.
