We live <10 miles from this campground and it will always be one of my top 5ers! The Rangers and the Campground Hosts are second to none!
You do need a pass to get into the park, but they have both annual and day passes.
Registration is self-serve but easy figure out.
Our favorite spots are spots 1-8 because they are right over the berm from the pond. We have kayaks so it's easy peasy to get them to the water and back, there is also plenty of parking at these spots and we have kids that are always stopping in.
There is a swimming area with an awesome beach that also a sand volleyball court.
The spots on the north side of the campground are still gravel, but the spots on the south half are all cement.
Bath house is always clean.
There is always firewood available ... I believe it's $5/bundle.
Playground equipment for the kids.
Nature trails around the campground!
With the kayaks we love to go toodle around the outside of the pond and look for the turtles sunning themselves. We've also seen beaver, Canadian geese and cranes.
There is also a paved bike trail that goes 3 miles into Sioux Center. Definitely not shaded but you do get to see an up-close view of Iowa's famous corn fields!
There is a potable water and a dump station but it's in a spot that is only ideal if you're camping on the south half. The road through the campground is one-way, so if you're in a spot before the potable water, you have to go all the way around the loop to get back to your spot after filling your tank ... deal breaker? Heck no, it would just be nice if it was located before any of the camp spots :D
Cell service ... we have Verizon and have never ever had a problem.
Wendi would stay here again
