Hot showers. HOT SHOWERS. Security patrols every few hours.
Just hope no assholes will come along and trash the place. Would be a shame.

Arrived around 9pm on a Tuesday, only a few others along the lake.
This is the nicest free spot I’ve camped in Texas. I’ve probably spent $30 on similar campsites.
There was a sheriff doing rounds at night and a separate guard this morning.
Well done Tejas.

No camper pads. Just find a place along the edge to park. No hookups, there is a water spigot attached to telephone pole near restroom/showers. I will include a picture. Family Restrooms, none has any soap. Toilet paper, yes, soap for your hands, no. Provide your own. They do have plenty of hot water for showers. Fires are ok. Gathe... more
No camper pads. Just find a place along the edge to park.
No hookups, there is a water spigot attached to telephone pole near restroom/showers. I will include a picture.
Family Restrooms, none has any soap. Toilet paper, yes, soap for your hands, no. Provide your own. They do have plenty of hot water for showers.
Fires are ok. Gather all the dead wood off the ground you like.
I spoke with all 3 security men, they are very nice. One of them is required to drive through the park, every 2 hours, all day and all night long.
There is a gate, regardless what the sign says, Tom, one of the security guys, said that it is never closed, unless in an emergency like maybe during a hurricane.

Other reviews mentioned the hot showers but they also complained about the dirt road. Must have been a lot of changes since then. Over a dozen covered picnic areas no dirt roads and an immaculately clean park. WOW

Humidity aside, this is a beautiful spot with beachside camping, plenty of space and even free hot showers! Sure, the cleanliness of the facilities could be described as “average” but you get what you (don’t) pay for! Honestly the best free camping spot I’ve found.

Stayed Memorial Day weekend. There were between 15-20 tents set up. Lots of fun. Plenty of kids for my kids to interact with, and a nice little beach. I can’t say how busy it is on other weekends, but I wish I had gotten there earlier to pick a shaded spot. It’s just a “pick a spot in the grass” type of setup, right on the water. Grou... more
Stayed Memorial Day weekend. There were between 15-20 tents set up. Lots of fun. Plenty of kids for my kids to interact with, and a nice little beach. I can’t say how busy it is on other weekends, but I wish I had gotten there earlier to pick a shaded spot. It’s just a “pick a spot in the grass” type of setup, right on the water. Ground isn’t perfectly flat and there’s no electrical hookups. But for a free camping area, its definitely a win.

Great stop. Spent four nights here. Security comes around twice a night, man was very friendly. Dog loved swimming in the lake. Hot showers are nice. Water fountains aren't working; Bring all the water you need in. Sticky burs in grass, so wear shoes.

Saw bald eagles and Canada geese. Bathrooms relatively clean with flush toilets and shower. Water at bathhouse. No electricity but picnic tables and trash cans scattered around lake. You can camp right next to the lake. Swimming area with white sand. Free
