Beautiful Park & enjoyed hiking the trails. They really need to redo & do some maintenance on Loop C & D. Most of the pads in those loops are extremely unlevel! I’m not talking about a little. We were at 65 & had to raise the trailer 16” above the hitch. Saw numerous people come in & end up moving sights as they couldn’t make their sight work. Either too much of a slope or wouldn’t be able to open slides or awnings. They have water at the front by the street & a lot had picnic tables on the wrong side to be desirable. Really need to be worked on but hopefully keep the privacy. Take lots of blocks & chocks & a long water hose. Loops A & B are well maintained & beautifully updated but No Privacy & more like a big parking lot. Not our type of camping! They do have a nice size overflow area that wasn’t bad & you could go there if you can’t make your sight work. We also had problems at the dump station. They don’t have a standard water hose connection. Their flush hose won’t connect to a hose fitting, plus the one we were at wasn’t working at all. Overall still had a nice time.

Sections C and D older with shorter, closer sites. Less flat sites vs sections A and B . Nice visitors center. Outstanding hiking. Beautiful waterfalls,streams and interesting rock formations. Beautiful lodge with restaurant. Dump station was overflowing and marginally operational when we were there.

The above rate is for a "Class B" (water, 30 amp electric) site, including tax.
Be aware there is a huge difference in the quality of sites in the camping loops here. The A and B loops (Sites 1 thru 59) are far superior to the sites found in the C and D loops (sites 61-127).
The A and B loops offer full hook ups with 50 amp electric, mostly level paved pads, paved sitting areas and utilities located where one would expect to find them at a camp site, i.e., on the drivers side near the middle of the site. These loops also offer more updated bath houses. Those in the B loop are actually separate bathrooms (with a shower, sink and toilet in each). Sites in these loops are $40 before tax.
The C and D loops offer water and 30 amp electric, numerous badly cracked/crumbling and narrow pads, with little room for awnings and/or slides due to the proximity of trees. In addition, most of the sites in this area are unacceptably unlevel (in most all cases in both directions i.e., front-to-back AND side-to-side). The only sites available when I booked (about 6 weeks ahead of time) were in the C and D loops. With a good deal of research, I chose site 77. Unfortunately, the photos of this site i looked at did not reveal how out-of-level it is. After trying for a half-hour, I eventually gave up trying to get level (first time that has ever happened to me). In addition, many of the sites (as was the case with my site) in the C and D loops have the water spigot located at the front of the site on the passenger's side. Depending on where you park on the pad, something on the order of 25 to 40 feet of water hose could be needed. Otherwise, the C and D loops are heavily forested and do offer overall decent sized sites. There is also decent spacing between the sites as well. Sites in the C and D loop are $25 before tax.
The A loop offers some trees, while the B loop is mostly in full sunlight.
Having said all of that, the park itself is fabulous. Excellent clean facilities, beautiful settings and vistas, and numerous well cared for and marked hiking trails. Staff was helpful and friendly.
I would only consider coming here if I could get a site in the A or B loops, or come for a day trip of hiking.

First, we loved exploring this fantastic state park!! We did all the hikes in our 4 day stay. We were here in early April, so of course the pool was not open, but there is so much to do here and it is just beautiful. Getting to the park you are going to have to deal with twisty, hilly roads but it was so worth it. You must check in at the visitors center prior to going to your site even if you have a confirmed reservation.
We stayed in C loop (this one and D are the older ones) which was very wooded. Our site was a bit tight due to trees, but if you are a skilled backer, no problem for a 28 ft TT. We had decent signal with Verizon for talk/text and sporadic data. Our site was pretty unlevel, 5-6" side to side and about the same front to back so make sure you have plenty of leveling capabilities. There are brand new sites in what I think was B loop. We were just happy to get in this popular park, so if you're not too picky about premium sites, I'd say it was worth it.
Shower house in our loop was old but clean. We had 30 amp electric which worked fine and water hook up. The dump station was fine as well.
We did have a tornado watch during our stay and the camp hosts came by to make sure we realized Mather lodge would be open all night in the event that we received a seek shelter warning which we truly appreciated!

My husband and I have both been here before as just day trips to hike around but this was our first time camping and we loved it! We stayed in the newly developed part of the campground (loop B). The sites are nicely spread out and spacious. Each site comes with a gravel tent pad, fire ring, and picnic table. The bathhouse was decent. The only issue we ran into is that the campground sites on the online map when booking aren't labeled correctly so we ended up booking a campsite that was completely on the other site of the loop. This wouldn't of been an issue other than our Starlink couldn't keep a good connection due to the trees and my husband works remote so we had to find another spot. Unfortunately the site we thought we booked was already booked up but the women who was working in the visitors center circled all the spots that were open and told us to pick what suited us the best and we could move there and just let her know where we moved too. We found a spot that worked great. No big deal! She did say that they were aware of the problem and hopefully will get it fixed soon. I'm not sure if its the entire campground map that is mislabeled or just Loop B. All the sites are great if you have no restrictions like we did. We definitely recommend going to Mather Lodge to watch the sunset into the valley. Its beautiful! They have a restaurant there but we didn't eat there but it smelled good! They only have one bike trail that's paved that connects the campgrounds to the lodge but its a nice trail. Mostly shaded and has some small hills but nothing to crazy. The hikes are all beautiful!

What a beautiful corner of the world this is. The many lakes in the region make this a mecca for fishermen, but there’s plenty for the rest of us to do too. Fireflies decorate the night, frogs and bullfrogs announce the dawn, and great blue herons gracefully fly along the shore. The Cedar Creek Trail hike to Cedar Falls was a highlight of our trip.
We stayed in Yurt #1, which is mounted on a raised platform, so it stays secure and dry. The yurts are spread out nicely – much more so than the RV sites – adding to the appeal. The yurt has screened window flaps which allowed air to flow for cooling while keeping bugs out. There are 4 bunk beds in the yurt, so you can sleep eight, though this would be quite tight with adults and would be a better fit for a large family. The Yurts have AC power, and a two-burner stove out back fed by natural gas, so you won’t even need to get out your camp stove. All you really need are sleeping bags, pillows, your own kitchen implements, and food. The yurt door does lock, though this is a canvas tent so keep this in mind when assessing security. In our visit in June, it was not that buggy.
The only issue with the yurts is that they are quite a distance from the bathrooms – several hundred meters. Yurt #4 is somewhat closer to the camp bathrooms, while yurt #1 is a little closer to the Visitor Center’s restrooms, though these are only open during business hours.
Note that when arriving late (after 5pm in our case), you need to pick up the key at the Lodge, rather than at the Visitor Center.

We visited the park for three nights in late March for the first time. We now understand why friends have been urging us to visit for many years. The park offers a variety of experiences, trails, scenic drives & overlooks, and a wonderful old lodge with rooms/cabins/dining.
We initially reserved site #82 and stayed there the first night. The sites in this part of the campground are generally not level. This would be less of an issue with a trailer where you can unhook, but may prove more difficult for Class Bs & Cs. Sites in Loop A all appeared to be level and we were able to move to Site #2 for the last two nights. As an added benefit, the new site included sewer.
We walked on the CCC Trail to the Lodge for an excellent meal. We also drove to several different wonderful overlooks.
All-in-all, an excellent state park and we'll certainly look forward to trying to visit again if we are in the area.
