Small CG right behind the dunes. Doesn’t have the craziness of Camp Hatteras or the KOA nearby. Clean and well maintained.

This was the 3rd time we stayed here. Full hookups, pristine brand new WiFi, decent sites close to the beach with more spacious sites under the trees. Easy beach access and an empty beach that hasn’t washed away yet.
The bathhouse could benefit from an update (water pressure in the showers) but this is still my favorite place in the area.

This is a wonderful, relatively small campground on the Outer Banks. You literally walk 2 minutes (or less from some sites) through the end of the property onto the beach. There are a row of 30 amp sites and mostly 50 amp. All full hook ups. Most sites were a little tight in my opinion, but not atypical for this type of place, and several were more separate and had some nice shade. Nice little camp store on site with DVDs to rent and all the essentials. Location was perfect for us, about half way down the shore, so we could access the more populated towns and sites to the north (near Nags head and Roanoke Island) and enjoy the light houses and beautiful national seashore to the south.
Only strange part is reservations. Can't do it online. Must right a letter before the season, or call once open in the Spring. They won't guarantee a site even a week out. We were trying to be close to friends and they wouldn't accommodate, even though we wrote a letter in January. She got us kind of close and it was fine, but until the literal day of our reservation, no site number guarantee. Just kind of strange, but it works for them and they have the demand and location to make the rules.
A few restaurants and convenience stores nearby, but probably 20-30 minutes from real grocery, etc.
Bathhouses were nice. A few permanent sites as you enter, but over all a great place to take in the OBX experience and enjoy the beach all you could possibly want.

Stayed here for three nights the week before the Independence Day weekend. Site 7 and nearby sites are well shaded by trees (sites closer to the beach are not shaded; if you want a whole lot of shade, sites 21A and 22 [30A, back-in] are tucked under a bunch of trees). Trees on either side of campground reduce the high winds on the island to a pleasant breeze. Concrete site pads greatly reduce sand in your camper. Easy walk to a nice beach. Pool is small but very enjoyable when not too crowded. Bath houses are very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Super helpful hosts - let us choose a spot, helped with anything. When our RV broke down trying to leave, they were very helpful and understanding.
Location is everything - easy walk straight over to the beach, and lots of beaches around. In the quiet town of Waves, NC. Try the 'waves market' - best breakfast burrito I've had in years - the steak one was good too! Easy drive to the other tourist places, but definitely out of the way - which is what we prefer.
WIFI was great most of the week, cell service also fast when I ran hotspot.

We stayed there for 2 Months from March to May 2020. It’s a smaller campground / RV park. Clean, well maintained and affordable. Easy ocean access with a nice beach. Also the sound beach access is only a couple miles away (car or bicycle).

City camping, full hookup sites within bike distance necessities and shopping. Very short walk to a the beautiful ocean beach and a slightly longer walk to the sound. The camp was quiet and clean. Decent pool and store. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We recently spent a week at this quiet, grassy campground. There are lots of camping options in the Outer Banks. From bare bones camp sites at the national seashore, to high end resort type campgrounds up near Nags Head. I would say this campground falls somewhere in the middle. It's a smaller campground with basic sites on concrete pads flanked on either side by strips of grass and outfitted with full hook-ups. There is a pool (which we didn't use), some older looking bathrooms with showers (which we didn't use), free wifi (which we didn't use), and cable for an extra fee (which we didn't want). We stayed in the 30amp section where they put all the smaller RVs. We had no neighbors for most of the week and it was very peaceful.
The very best part of this campground is the proximity to the beach. While you can't actually see the ocean because of the tall dunes, a short 2 minute walk and there it is. We spent everyday that it didn't rain walking on the beach looking for shells and watching the kite boarders.
