What a great campground right by the water. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Had originally booked just 6 nights but was able to extend my stay for another 4 nights.
Sites are large and spacious. We were given site 5 with 30 amp cuz we only have 1 a/c unit. Didn’t need to use cuz the temps were cooler at night. Some sites are paved, dirt or concrete pads. All look very level and all sites are beautiful. WIFi was very reliable.
Camp host Mark is very nice and so is his dog. She’s a sweetie.
The area is beautiful to walk around the lake. There’s a disc golf course in walking distance. Real nice course.
Bathroom / shower has a code to get into. Always clean and hot showers. Laundry is in another building. $1.50 wash $1 dry. It was perfect.
Gates close at 11pm. If you’re late like we were 2 times there’s a huge parking lot before you get to campground that you can park and just walk the pine needle path that brings you to the bathrooms in the campground. Super easy peasy.
Loved our stay Really quiet at campground. Just $20 a night, 30 amp w&e. Large Dump station has 2 dumps.
Just 20 minutes (traffic depends) to get to downtown Dallas

I initially came across this campground on Campendium. Did my research and called them about reservations. They sent me an email to fill out, and then called and they handled the rest.
Payment is due at check-in.
Check in 3 p.m. or later
Check out by 1 p.m. of day you are leaving.
14 day maximum stay per month. Unless prior approval is given.
This is an older campground (built in the 1960's). so it isn't all fancy.
You can walk to the lake, and walk, run the sidewalk around the southside of the lake, or ride bikes along the park roads.
My 14 day stay included 2 non-holiday weekends. They did get busier on the weekend, but they still had plenty of space available.
You do not get to choose your site. They do it for you based on the size and type of rig you have. This alleviates the problem of potentially having to move to a different site during your stay, and ensuring the site will fit your rig and any tow/additional vehicle.
Electric and water hookups at site. Dump station for emptying tanks. Water spigots can be difficult to find (close to the ground). Again, for a campground built in the 1960's it is expected.
They keep the grounds mowed and cut back the weeds weekly.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. My original site's electric pole was too far away for my cord, so they moved me to a better spot.
It is a very quiet and peaceful campground.
They have a laundry hut. Wash is $1.50; dryer is $1 for 44 minutes! There is a convenience store (Brownies) at the corner coming into the park (.7 miles from park) that will change a $10 for quarters for the machines.
They have 2 bathhouses with showers and toilets. I preferred the bathhouse next to the laundry hut over the one closer to the lake.
Seniors get a 50% discount (so for $10/night this place is great!)
You can have Kroger (grocery store) deliver (order online through their website). You can have UPS and FedEx packages delivered here, but NOT USPS.
Sites are pretty level. Space between some sites are tight.
All sites have a picnic table and grill.
They have a lot of sunny spots and some are shaded (mostly with pine trees).
They have free city WIFI service. I work while on the road, and the service was pretty good. If you have a WIFI booster that is even better.
The city park area gets busy on the weekend, but the road to the campground is limited to campers only.

Stayed here overnight on way to Colorado and this location worked well for us as a stopover. Beautiful location, nice sites; it was definitely a nice surprise. We stayed in site 11 which was a back in 50 amp with shade. Good view of the water since a few sites were empty on the weekday we stayed but I expect that it might be busy on summer weekends. Had to pay to drive our truck into the park area but you can easily walk or bike into the park without paying the day use fee. They had disc golf, fishing, swimming at a beach (watch out for glass!), tennis, golf, etc. lots of fun things to do.

We stayed here 3 days while visiting family in the area. We were impressed with this city park complex. The price was for 30 amp service and senior rate and you have partial hookups. Our site was definitely short, but we fit and there were places to park our toad close by. Quiet, clean and a lovely view of the lake. Great area to run bike or walk. Golf course, disc golf and several boat ramps along with their soccer fields and ball diamonds. This is a great deal and we would definitely stay again when we are out this way. So much shopping close by off the 407 and great restaurants. Historic Lewisville is lovely as well.
Because you make your reservation by phone you do not get a confirmation and we had a spelling error in our name so the person checking me in did tell me I didn’t have s reservation but we got things straightened out so not a negative. They can look your reservation up with your phone number ( what we had to do ) so it shouldn’t be an issue just sharing fyi.

Now, the bad...
Reservations are only by phone. I called 10 times, left two voice mails, in a two hour period before someone answered.
There is an online map of the campground on their website...but you can't pick your own site. They pick it for you and won't honor your requests for a specific site. This is a problem because...
Most of the sites are unshaded, lined up very close to each other, like a parking lot. There are a couple smaller areas under trees. Between the two different areas, I saw maybe 10 other spots I would have preferred instead. But you get what they give you.
Also, although most of the pads are asphalt...most are sloped/not level and many have uneven surfaces from cracks, crappy patch jobs and ruts from tires. It's bad.
Only 2 'pets' allowed per site. Usually, I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. Cats don't matter, they never go out. Three dogs is an issue at some campgrounds though. Normally, if I was staying longer than one night, I'd pass on a 2 pet limit campground but because I was only staying one night (to plug in for AC on a 92 degree TX day) and the price was so good...I decided to risk it.
Also, first place I ever camped at where you are fined for not leasing your dog and a hefty fine at that...$186. Not like they can chase me down though and go thru my pockets to grab the money.
Laundry room has 4 washers, 4 dryers...yet only one person is allowed in at a time. Hours are limited also, 10am-6pm...which reflects the exact times the office is open.
If you tell them you have two air conditioners...even if you tell them you only use one...they will assign you a 50 amp site. It's only $2 more but again...no choice in the matter...even if you want a nicer 30 amp spot.
Wi-fi is spotty. It kept disconnecting on me. Took an hour before it stabilized, with a weak signal and that's up front near the office.
Showers at the far end of the park are disgusting and the locked/coded door is broken. The locked one up front is in better, though not great condition. It could use an upgrade. Only two showers and the one by the back wall...has no handle...I guess someone stole it. So no way to turn it on/off/control temperature. The other one is fine.
Urinal is too tall for short guys like me.
Two sinks...one for shorter people/kids is nice...but the cold water doesn't work. It's scalding hot only.
Picnic tables are old and rotting. Need upgrades.
Several serious concerns here but you can't beat the price, so it's hard to complain. I'd probably come back for that reason alone, for a day or two. Longer would be nice but I'd hate to get here, be assigned a spot I don't like, on an uneven/bumpy pad and be stuck there because they won't let me pick my own site.
But the place will do in a pinch.
Mark would stay here again

For seniors the 30 amp sites are $10, 50 amp is $11. Can’t beat the price or location. The attitude of the workers is another thing. I made reservations for a premium 50 amp site but because I only had one a/c they put me in a 30 amp site that was too small. The girl changed it (she was very nice) to site 77 which was 50 amp and on the end near the lake and bath house. Perfect site! Unfortunately the 50 amp power was missing a leg according my surge protector. So I plugged into 30 instead. It was fine at first then a couple hours later there was a surge and it tripped my surge protector. It kept doing that every hour or so. Ended up using a propane heater overnight so I wouldn’t have to move in the dark. Next day I talked to a different worker, Casey. She said I had to go into a smaller 30 amp slot. I explained that my rig was 50 amp and I paid for a premium spot. Nope the ranger insisted that because I only had one a/c that I had to go into a 30 amp. When I asked about a refund for the $7 she actually said “we can refund you but it’s very inconvenient “. I was floored! No, what was inconvenient was that I had to pack up my site and move less than 24 hours later because they can’t keep their equipment working! My new site (55) smells like an open sewer and because I’m a newbie I had trouble backing in and had to get help. You know what good old Casey said? Well you chose this lifestyle so you should know how. I’m not kidding. Bad freaking attitude. Oh and the kicker was, she admitted earlier that she couldn’t back up her rig either. Her husband has to do everything. I would still stay here again because the location is near family but just be warned about the lack of care and customer service

The park is wonderful, but the sites need some TLC. We did not see the bathrooms or the laundry room. With some staffing changes, this could be a wonderful park.

Check in is 2pm and they wont let you in any earlier, so they have you park in the baseball field parking lot next door. There is a dip getting in and out of there so be mindful or just show up after 2. They also don't have any guest parking and only allow one vehicle to be parked inside the campground. If you have any one visit, or two vehicles, they have to park in the baseball parking lot which is about a 5 min walk into the campground. The gate is closed 11pm- 6am, so if you need to be out during that time park in the outside lot.
Bathrooms and showers are nice and clean, dump station is brand new, there is laundry available on site, and easy access to a walking path around the lake. We had no issues with W/E during out stay. Sites could use a little love and most the picnic tables are in need of replacing. Also, not all sites have fire pits, but there is a communal pit that you can use.
We called about a month before our stay and easily booked our site. The campground was maybe full one night during our whole time around Thanksgiving. We will definitely stay again.

This place is full of campsite police. It waaaay to strict. I think they have people hiding in the trees, watching for you to park in wrong spot. Or run over a blade of grass. And heaven forbid you go 1 mile an hour over the speed limit (which is 10mph) Or here they will come on their golf carts getting on your ass. Then you have the whole parking situation. The website says 2 cars per site. They tell you when you get here only 1. The over flow parking is way the hell out side the gate.
And do not. I repeat DO NOT be in the laundry room after 8 pm They will run you out of there, with wet ass clothes. I guess they think someone is gonna walk off with their washing machines and dryers.
Over all it’s a nice park. But always be checking over your shoulder, cause they are always watching. I think they old lady’s in the front, get off by having a little power. I feel they were bullied as a kid, and now taking it out on campers.
And the bathhouse is clean. But I got more sweaty getting dressed, than I was before I went in. Hotter than hell in them.
