When folks say "not very level" here, what do they mean? A couple extra blocks, or can't get the rig level at all?

Stayed on a Saturday night in May. Lots of open spaces to choose from. It was clean and quiet. I had some spotty cell service during the day but none at night. I wore closed shoes but my wife wore sandals and got a dozen bug bites on each foot near the picnic tables in just a few minutes.

This was a great little spot for a couple of days passing through from Alabama to Arkansas. The spots are a bit confusing, nothing is numbered. You basically find what's open and claim it. Some are more level than others.
However, the ease of access, bathrooms, water, and trash make this a real gem. Plus a nice hiking trail up to the Little Mountain overlook was a nice treat and a great way to stretch your legs. There are picnic tables, tent pads, trash, and fire rings throughout.
Also to note, if all of the camping spaces are full, there is plenty of overflow parking at the picnic area and the overlook area. Though these are not designated camping spots they are an option for a quick overnight if you roll in later in the day/evening.

18 sites, unmarked and of various sizes. All paved. Picnic tables and fire rings. Bathroom was clean with flush toilets and hot water and soap for the sink. The whole campground is beneath very tall pines and well shaded. Convenient trails are close by for some hiking. Better than some paid campgrounds we've stayed in.

This is a gem of a spot! It's completely free and it has a working bathroom with flushing toilets that was open when I was there. There are quite a few sites (I'd say something like 10), they are all pull throughs so you don't have to worry about backing a trailer in. Cell service was better on the more elevated and clear lots, but you could get a signal from pretty much anywhere. Would definitely go back there as there is a nice hiking trail that, had it not been raining, I would have liked to explore!

We stopped August 2 2021. We were Northbound on the Trace. The sites are not numbered in any fashion. It didn’t matter because there was only 1 other RV there and tent. No hookups, no water. Just a quiet place to sleep. There are restrooms available. Pay attention when pulling back onto the Trace because there’s no direction signs.

As others reviewers have started, there is no organization to the campsites as with most free campgrounds we try to arrive by 2pm, and on Monday-Thursdays. I monitored my site and used traffic cones to “protect “ my site access and egress. No good solar sites.

I tracked north on the Natchez Trace. I stopped at the campground around 3:00 p.m. People were occupying the sites in a way that even though some sites are double they parked on one end or in the middle and threw up camp chairs etc. to make the whole thing “their” site or perhaps they were holding the space for their friends to join them later? I did stop and ask four different people if I could back in or share the site (all were identified on the map as double sites) and I was ignored or just told to go look for another site. As a single woman traveling with just a little dog I’m not going to demand that people do the right thing nor am I going to barge my way in. I eased on down the road after stopping at Rich Mountain and slept at the Cracker Barrel just north of Tupelo. As far as campground appearance the campground is more sloped than Rocky Springs campground nearer to Natchez and I would imagine that makes getting level more difficult. I prefer Rocky Springs to this one.

We had planned to stay at Jeff busby cg as we traveled north bound on the trace. I would say that the sights are not big rig friendly but we could have fit our 37 foot class A motor home. As others have mentioned, the sights are not terribly level but we could have made it work. Our decision not to stay was based on the number of homeless staying there. It honestly didn’t feel safe so we listened to our gut feeling and kept on going.
