We loved (almost all of) our experience at J&H. It is a 55+ park, which means there are no children running around, no pool or playground noise, and no 20-somethings doing keg stands. (Wow, do I feel old after writing that!). It is also a no-smoking park, which my sensitive lungs really appreciated!

The park is family owned and we enjoyed speaking with all 3 generations of the family. This is one of those rare places where the owners are the ones doing the maintenance, working the front desk, and making sure your needs are met.

The location is great - right on Hwy 89, close to both hiking trails and downtown. The layout of the park - tiered pull-thru sites on a downward slope - made the sites feel private.

The free WiFi was actually very good. It dropped a few times, but generally allowed me to get some work done, check email, and update my blog.

However .... a word of caution for motorcyclists. They have a "no operation in the park" rule. Which we took to mean don't do zoomies on your MC around the park - just ride straight from your rig to the road (a common policy at nicer parks). But, they really mean NO operation in the park. We actually went out for a ride one morning with no issue, but were "welcomed" back by the owner screaming at us, telling us we had to pack up and leave the park immediately even though we were paid up for 2 more days (luckily, his wife was able to calm him down and we were allowed to stay). Realize that we are two old farts on a very quiet Goldwing, driving straight from the road to our site at less than 10 mph. So if you plan to do any mc riding during your stay in Flag, this is not the place to stay.

Otherwise, we'll definitely be back (and won't take our MCs out of the trailer!!)

Apparently we snuck in to one of those over age resorts --- who knew? It was adult oriented, quiet and no kids. The owners are so nice and have an amazing attention to detail. They even lit a fire for us in the community fireplace to enjoy each evening. The park is close to town and easy access for shopping and dining out.

After a week of dry camping it was a perfect stop to take long showers (full hookups), do laundry and cook a few crockpot meals which catching up on cable and enjoying high speed internet that REALLY works. I actually spent a rainy day in their 'tv' room working and doing laundry.

Everything from the spaces to the laundromat are clean and in perfect working order (it was actually the best washing machines I have used in the past 3 months with really HOT water).

Spaces are small and most have picnic tables. We had a double wide space which was a back in and very nice. The center pull throughs appear to be smaller. The space surface is red cinder and easy to get level. If you are comfortable with close proximity to your neighbors then you won't mind. If you prefer wide open landscape, this will may feel a little too tight.

Flagstaff is a fun little town with lots to do in and around there - We enjoyed the breweries (Lumberyard and Mother Road) along with some great mountain biking areas including Campbell Mesa, Fort Valley and Schultz Pass Loop.
