Hurricane Campground

Great place to disconnect, but not at all big-rig friendly. Many of the sites are for tents only, so pay attention to the description on recreation.gov. There were 2 pull-through sites, but most were short back-ins. The road in was quite steep, with a few switch-backs.

No hookups, but they had 2 bath houses with showers, and water available. Lush vegetation and good spacing between sites made for a lovely few days. Absolutely no cell service until you get to the closes town, Marion.

Rate included half price because of America the Beautiful pass. Regular cost is $20, with some double sites costing $30.

We stayed here in July of 2020 and enjoyed our dry camping, disconnected experience. There's no cell or hookups here, just beautiful nature, streams, & hiking trails. Access was easy enough, but do beware of steep and windy roads on 622 if coming from I-81.

I would recommend getting a different site than 6, as it's not private at all and not super level, whereas there are many other sites in the park that do offer those perks. Site 6 did work well for us, as we were traveling with friends who had the neighboring site with direct access to the creek. There's no dump station here, but you can use the one at the other forest service campground just a few miles down the road. I would absolutely return!
