Wanted to visit nearby Sleeping Bear but didn't have reservations and 34ft travel trailer was questionable for fitting in FCFS campground. Fees here are $15 a night plus $9 a day. People swimming at boat launch. Sites vary in size. Only downside was the full dumpster smelled really bad and was close to our site. We arrived on Sunday afternoon in August and only a handful of sites we're occupied. Did not try the vault toliets.

Garey Lake Campground was very nice, maintained well- Not crowded at all. We stayed at the Trail camp down the road because there was NOONE there. 200 sites capacities and not a soul- (SEE review ) Garey Lake Campground had lake access and more shade trees- compared Garey Trail Camp and to the PACKED stateparks… no contest - Its worth it if you are boondocking- $15 plus - permit (car fee $9 ) cash/ check only selfserve so $25 bucks - vault toilets and pump water. Med to small rigs to tents.
