There are four sites and we were able to get the last one. Here in September 2023 and cost is $30 which includes water, 110/30/50 electric and dump. The train track is right across the street so it is loud when it passes and whistles, but we love that sound. Also hear cows mooing in the distance. Stars were INCREDIBLY beautiful. Hi... more

History info is so much fun as well.

Arrived at 9:30PM. Not sure about the cute town everyone is referring to. We were a little put off by the surrounding area’s conditions. We were the only campers there, which was fine. Two men were on the back steps of the building. I asked them if they worked there and they said they were “hired to do photography” I asked them if there were bathrooms in the building. They asked me how much I was paying and I told them $25 and they said, “no, these bathrooms are for people that rent the building.” They stood there while we set up our camp and were still out there when we went to bed. A little creepy.
Overall, it was quiet. With the exception of the train that blew its horn passing through at 11:00pm. Only that one train passed through. The men’s cars were still there when we left at 5:30am. Would not stay there again.

On the long drive from Nebraska to Colorado we stumbled across this hidden gem in Wallace. By the railroad tracks & grain elevator. Were not bothered by noise from either. My husband & I like to avoid the crowds & hubbub of large RV parks or crowded campgrounds, this place accommodated us and our 2 German Shepherds. Lots of history in this little burg. We are from small town Nebraska,, so we appreciate them. Will always stay here if we are on this path from NE to CO again, which I believe we will be in about a month.

But there's really nothing 'amazing' about this spot other than convenience. It's four spots with hook-ups in the middle of a field in a dusty run down town with not much going on. Not being into antiques or coffee, the one shop in town wasn't much appeal and the museum is a bit of a walk away.
Oh well, it was decent for a night. Easy no reservations generally needed. And plenty of connectivity to stream something to keep us relaxed.

Hooking up was quick and easy and we made our way to the Museum to pay for our site as well as learn some history. Deb in the museum was super welcoming to our little family and taught us about some of the awesome historical displays. Camp site is mostly level, in the grass and very quiet.

Makes a nice overnight stop on the road through going to or from Colorado. There was a train in the middle of the night and a little noise from the elevator fans, but otherwise very quiet and peaceful. Very sunny and hot, but hey, that's western Kansas in August.
They've added a small playground for kids and a pavilion with picnic tables since some of the earlier reviews.

Simple 4 spots with full hookup year around but otherwise no amenities or a Picknick table. The coffee shop that others mentioned was unfortunately closed as it’s only open Tuesday through Saturday. Overall great spot for an overnight’s rest driving through Kansas on the way to southern Colorado.
