12 miles off the highway. We have a Class B 21 ft and found the road in good shape but washboardy. There is a vault toilet two fire pits and one picnic table. We were the only ones there then two others joined us. The Milky Way was spectacular. Ran into the back end off a cattle drive on the way out. Just another day in BLM land.

We camped at the boat ramp and there was a pit toilet and two fire rings. There were a couple of dirt roads before the ramp where signs said camping is allowed but the road looked jumpy and narrow so we passed. Had the place to ourselves and it was beautiful. Only one bar service with Verizon.

We went here as a plan “b” since the Lava camp was full (June 14,2023- mid week). There are two sights with table but in a pinch another could pull in. Clean pit toilet. Drive of about 15 miles on good dirt road to the sites.

Had three wonderful days with sun, wind and snow. Road in was good and the two sites were easy to access. Only gave four stars due to no t mobile.

They’re up on the road and the reservoir is down the hill a bit. You really can’t beat the views. Surrounded by mountains. Lots of birds to watch, even pelicans! We saw a bald eagle too. There were fish jumping in the reservoir. We did walk down but weren’t sure about swimming as the shore was lined with a teal colored substance. Absolutely silent aside from the birds and so peaceful and beautiful. A fun place to walk around and explore. At night we did have clouds of mosquitoes but the fire kept them at bay (shut your vehicle/tent though! They were so loud it sounded like our ears were ringing). For a free campsite we got so much out of this spot. No shade, go when cool or bring shelter/tarps. We loved it here.

Beware - it’s muddy in the reservoir so don’t pull down there if it’s been raining. And you will need 4 low to get your trailer back up and out. The boat ramp is a little rough. Dirt road was fine. Some washboard but not bad at all. Reservoir is muddy and slippery so not the best place for kids to play. They get covered in thick mud - and at least for us, we didn’t have a lot of extra water to get it all off. No cell service where we were. Loved how remote it was and would stay there again. Fantastic multi-arch concrete gravity dam. Don’t see many of those.

There was still a bit of water in the reservoir that the dogs had fun splashing in. No cell and a few campers at other spots along the road it. A couple vehicles drove down the boat ramp and onto the dry lakebed but didn’t stay. Road is very washboarded, and feels like the 4 miles in is FOREVER, but we thought it was well worth it.

We slept in the boat dock parking area. Has a clean volt toilet, but the rest is decaying away.
Very quiet. No service. 30 min to Craters of the Moon.
