This camp really is a gem. It's easy to get a permit for and easy to get to. We especially loved this place for the amenities: showers, bathrooms, dump station, and access to water. This camp really is a gem. It's easy to get a permit for and easy to get to. We especially loved this place for the amenities: showers, bathrooms, dump station, and access to water. If you have dogs, you can use the fenced horse (pastures?) to let them run around and explore off leash (as long as there are no horses). There is a camp host who will check to make sure you have a permit and will also make sure you're in a site number. You don't have to reserve a site number online, however, you can just find a spot you like that's available. It's not too far from a Walmart and just an hour and a half drive to the ocean! We are already planning another stay at Dupuis.

You have to get a free permit from the South Florida Water Management District website. You can stay 30 days per calendar year, but only 8 days max at a time. The campground is designed for equestrians.... more
Hot showers, Flushing Toilets and a Dump Station. Need I say more? We stayed 1/4-1/8 (mon-fri) and it was pretty full the entire time. You have to get a free permit from the South Florida Water Management District website. You can stay 30 days per calendar year, but only 8 days max at a time. The campground is designed for equestrians. They have the equestrian and non equestrian sites separate, the non-equestrian being in the back part of the campground. The non equestrian sites are labeled with numbered posts. Sites are first come, first serve. Once you set up the camp host will come by to verify your permit and mark which number you’re at. The entire campground is fenced and gated (because horses) so you must use a 4 digit lock code, and lock the gate each time you enter/exit. This code also works for the dump station. There are multiple water faucets throughout the campground (mostly on equestrian side) but none at any sites. There is an animal cleaning station for hunters at the front of the campground, and when we were setting up there were some guys cleaning a hog. Something to be mindful of if you’re squeamish. I did hear hunter gunshots in the distance one afternoon. Overall this is an amazing campground for being free. If you get one of the sites on the edges it feels a little more private. If your goal is to avoid people, this isn’t the place for you. There were RV’s, Travel Trailers, Tent, Car and Campervans throughout the camping area. Everyone was very respectful and there was no one being loud or partying. Not sure if this is normal or just because people are more socially distanced with covid. The only cons of this campground is that it’s right off of a main road with LOTS of truck traffic noise (dump trucks and semis). We were right near the animal cleaning station on the front part of the campground closest to the road, so not sure if we just heard it more because we weren’t in the very back (you’d defiantly here the road at any of the equestrian sites since it’s at the front). Also almost every morning I was awoken to the sound of a small plane flying very low making rounds over and over again above the campsite. That was a little irritating but tolerable. Only an hour drive to west palm beach! Defiantly plan on coming back and staying again.

I love going to Dupuis for the simple fact that they have 3 barns and paddocks for the horses to stay. What upsets me is reading some of the reviews complaining about the space for equestrians. Which stays closed for the safety of our horses. I've seen non equestrian campers open the gate and leave it open as they enter. I checked out the no. Equestrian camping and its beautiful. There are 3 barns out there for a reason...to accommodate equestrians. There are not that many parks in Florida they have this luxury and I take offense to non equestrians that share our space complaining about us. We should be able to camp together with no negativity. We always clean the bathrooms due to the people living out there or non equestrians...since we all mingle I can assure you that we are tidy and clean up after our horses as well. We have gone to peoples camp sites and allowed there kids to see our horses when asked and there for the sole purpose of spending time with our horses on a camping atmosphere. Please dont complain about horses when the sign totally states EQUESTRIAN CAMPING.. thank you

It's hard to find camping in South Florida at all, and a really nice free spot is basically a unicorn. We stayed here two years ago and the campground has only gotten better since then. It's hard to find camping in South Florida at all, and a really nice free spot is basically a unicorn. We stayed here two years ago and the campground has only gotten better since then. There are now defined camping spots with posts for markers -- about half under trees and about half with plenty of open sky for solar -- and the sites are huge so you can park your rig in any direction. We think the extra site definition makes for a better camping experience so people space themselves out. The bathhouse (flush toilets and hot showers, all clean and in good condition) is clearly an amazing amenity for a free spot, and the dumpster, potable water, and dump station are also a bonus. We found our site to be completely level with no need for blocks but the area is basically just a field so conditions may vary. Most campers had solar but there's always one person with a loud generator and quiet hours are not particularly long (11 pm to 7 am). Road noise from the adjacent state road is minimal at night. A permit is required, but individual sites are FCFS so arrive mid-day for a good selection of sites. With a relatively short stay limit of 8 days there is frequent turnover.
Trails are easily accessible directly from the campground. Loop 2 is about 7.5 miles round trip including the walk from the campground to the trailhead. The equestrian facilities are well used, but hikers and horses have different trails for the most part. Gas and propane are available in Indiantown (15 minutes away) as well as small grocery stores.

Enjoyed our stay at DuPuis. Plenty of space to park our 35' 5th Wheel and we had great solar. Relatively peaceful except on weekends. Lot of Equestrian campers and some run open framed generators (too loud should be banned). Most other campers in the non Equestrian run inverter generators or set out solar panels!!! Water available but... more
Enjoyed our stay at DuPuis. Plenty of space to park our 35' 5th Wheel and we had great solar. Relatively peaceful except on weekends. Water available but didn't need it. Showers were hot. Campground host was very friendly walking the campground regularly. Our dog love to see them come by as they always had a treat for her. Only negative is there are quite a few low hanging branches over the roads. We hit one on the way out (13'4" clearance) only damage was a scrape on one of the fan vents.

We are a Dupius right now. Non equestrian campground has gotten a lot smaller this year. 4/5 of the campground is equestrian only and only one horse owner in here while there are 20 to 30 campers are crammed in a little tight. This is a wonderful campground, as long as your here during the week. Weekends are taken over by very loud music, even past the cut off time of 11pm. This is a wonderful campground, as long as your here during the week. Weekends are taken over by very loud music, even past the cut off time of 11pm. It seams to be a local family gathering as they left behind a makeshift box with a door and roasting pan inside.. several campers left without extinguishing fires. The free available trash was abused, over filled piled outside of the dumpster and left at the empty host lot! The abuse could lead to removal of such free services if not added fee to camp here.

Wonderful Place to camp. Near several small towns within ten minutes of a drive. Lake Entrance is 10 minutes away. Over 20+ camp sites for folks with tents or RV’s. Also has stables and sites for Horse lovers. (bring own horse) they just put in a new bathroom facility with nice men’s and women’s restrooms also 4 separate private shower... more

Water on premises say not for drinking or domestic use. Fire rings and tables at each site. Lots of shaded areas. Pavilion for parties. Clean. Quiet. It’s kept up and mowed. We experienced Raccoons at night, so lock up your stuff. Lots of birds. Beware tons of misquotes and nats.

While Hickory Hammock is prettier, Dupuis has hot showers and actual flush toilets. It was much more popular and my son got to play with other kids. While Hickory Hammock is prettier, Dupuis has hot showers and actual flush toilets. It was much more popular and my son got to play with other kids. The sites looked pretty level and were more abundantly big rig friendly than most free places. So many horses, but we did see wildlife in the form of one non-venemous snake and a raccoon family. There was no camp host while we were there or else the showers and toilets may have been cleaner after the weekend. Also the trash needed a serious pickup. Other than that, we can't complain. There was a dump station on the way out and potable water. You just can't get better than this and you can't complain anyway because it's free! Plus it's within an hour of many do beaches. We would actually consider hosting here.

I am the obnoxious host that the Antiguehippies speak of. If being direct is obnoxious then I am guilty as charged but let me tell you what really happened. This couple arrived in their motor home for a 2 day stay and were directed as to where they could and could not park by my husband who talked to her husband. They were parked in the open field with shade for a full day. When we returned from grocery shopping the next morning, I observed that they had moved their 30+ foot motor home into the Tents/Van/Car Camper Only area. It’s true, the tent area is not clearly marked, however, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that one of these things is not like the other. The reason for this is that tent campers do NOT have the luxury of a kitchen, bathroom and table. Open burning is allowed at Dupuis so taking one of the “tent” sites with a fire ring and picnic table takes away the opportunity for a “tenter” to have a way to cook and eat. I initially addressed her husband, however, he did not wish to be the bearer of bad news and asked me to talk to his wife. She is correct, I told her to move and move now. I do not have time to tell grown people to do the very thing they know they were not supposed to be doing in the first place! Not once did I ever yell at her husband. Having said all that we met some awesome guests and this is our first negative review. My name is Jo and I am the obnoxious camphost who served 20 years in the Army and 17 in Law Enforcement. Maybe that’s where the reviewer confuses direct with obnoxious.
