A good place to stay. Close to Miami, with no reservations needed. Clean. It’s $3 per person or $6 per car
Arturo would stay here again

It’s a 69,000 acre wildlife management area which translates to public hunting preserve. You’ll be surrounded by the sounds of atv’s and gunfire all night. I don’t know what people were hunting but it involved bright spotlights, reckless driving, and rapid fire. I got about three hours sleep. It’s practically free camping. You get what you pay for.

Bugs, yeah they got 'em, bring your thermacell and deep woods off and even that won't deter the non-biting one's. I know it's first come and no assigned spots and lots of room but why people want to pull up within 30 feet of you when they don't have to is beyond me, we had two park on top of us and there was just emptiness for a hundred yards! Also, at night, some sort of jet engine sounding place to the southwest that roared to life after 8pm until well after midnight making large amounts of noise. On a positive note, the train traffic slowed after dark! This review is written after just the first night. We do have 2 bars Verizon reception. Fishing after dark produced many catfish on a cork. No alligators spotted yet, which is good since we have a small dog. Friendly camp host and remember it is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you must be gone by dark Sunday from Jan until August when hunting season starts up, then it is wide open and filled with hunters. I was advised by the host that the further you go back, the worse the road gets and the more kids you will have partying. I suppose cell reception would drop off as well.

The only downsides are: they only have hard water at the spigot up front, there’s no cell coverage and it’s a half hour away from any stores so bring a car if you’ll need to do laundry or make a snack run.

The jet engine noise comes from Pratt & Whitney Location, The produce jet engines and test them on stands outside. Sometimes they break free from their mounts and shoot a long ways through the woods, not through the WMA, but I wouldn't go exploring north west of the WMA.
I was a land surveyor building the power lines around the WMA way back in the 1970's, and learned what I said here back then.
